Very sad news today, as reports are now coming in that  one of the stars of the Discovery Channel show “Storm Chasers” Tim Samaras, his son Paul and colleague Carl Young, died Friday night while chasing the tornadoes that hit Oklahoma. The trio were three of the nine people who died Friday due to the storms.

Tim and his team were a part of the show for its final three seasons, before being cancelled in 2012. His energy and enthusiasm for studying the monstrous storms were infectious. It made the viewer wish they were brave enough to chase those crazy powerful storms too.

Samaras’ brother Jim took to his Facebook page and said;

“Thank you to everyone for the condolences. It truly is sad that we lost my great brother Tim and his great son, Paul. Our hearts also go out to the Carl Young family as well as they are feeling the same feelings we are today. They all unfortunately passed away but doing what they loved.”

Our condolences go out to the families and all who loved them. Without heroic men like these gentlemen, we couldn’t begin to understand Mother Nature’s patterns, their brave actions protect us all, and this loss will be felt by all human kind.
