“Space and opportunity.” It’s a mantra many a street hustler has recited at one point or another. At last night’s Summer Jam XX, rapper Papoose appeared to take advantage of just that.

The husband of incarcerated rapper Remy Ma took the stage at East Rutherford, NJ toward the end of Kendrick Lamar’s performance, which some are saying ended early.  The crowd was surprised as Pap took the stage ran through a new song, “Get At Me” before yelling “Free Remy” and exiting.  Hot 97’s Program Director Ebro Darden Tweeted his surprise as well, saying the station had nothing to do with it.

“I think @kendricklamar DJ let @Papooseonline DJ throw on the record. I don’t even know how he got in..”

Before long social media was saying that he’d pulled a Lil Mama, referencing the rapper’s impromptu appearance beside Jay-Z and Alicia Keys during their VMA’s performance in 2009.

Then of course came the memes: “Summer Jam Headliner…and UOENO.”

Papoose released his debut album “Nacirema Dream” in March of 2013, several years after it was scheduled to come out. He was signed to Jive Records in 2006 buy left the label in 2007. As talented as he is, this is probably the most attention he’s gotten in his professional career.
