I am sorry she lost her role, however the entertainment industry demands that people constantly re-invent themselves and sophisticated black mother roles are virtually non-existent. Noticeably, there have been few shows where black women, older or younger, are portrayed elegant characters. We have women like Beyounce, Lil Kim and New York cashing in as the representative “talent” of black women of the 2000′s. Until those ideas change, the best among us will be unable to work in those starring roles. I must agree with the other writers. I stopped watching the show soon after she left. The switch didn’t set well with me either.
