How tall is Nas? Nas is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, according to his IMDB bio, and while that hardly makes him a literal giant — he’s roughly of average height — he stands as one of the biggest and best rappers of all time. While he’s typically associated with Queens, New York, Nasir Bin Olu Dara Jones was actually born in Brooklyn on September 14, 1973. He and his family relocated to the Queensbridge projects when he was a boy, and as a teenager, he found himself drawn to hip-hop, despite the fact his father was a jazz trumpeter. In 1994, Nas dropped his debut, “Illmatic,” and in the years since unleashing that hip-hop classic, he’s released nine additional studio albums. His three most recent LPs have topped the Billboard 200, and MTV has called him the fifth greatest MC of all time.

Indeed, Nas’ average height measurements are somewhat irrelevant, as he looms large in popular culture, and many regard him as one of the finest lyricists ever to rock a mic. Although he’s had his share of ups and downs — he’s beefed with everyone from 50 Cent to Bill O’Reilly and drawn heat from parents groups, music critics, and even the IRS — Nas has come out on top, and in 2014, the two-disc 20th anniversary edition of “Illmatic” renewed the public’s interest in the rapper’s music. He plans to release his 11th studio album in 2014, and in an interview with the Huffington Post, he spoke proudly of the forthcoming LP.

“It’s the next chapter in myself as a writer,” he said. “I’m really excited about every new leaf I turn. Every new endeavor. I’m excited about that and all the potential that comes with everything new that I do. And all my ideas can come to fruition. And that excites me, because there’s no limits to what I can do, in terms of trying to be an inspiration. I just want to do well for the listeners out there. Do well for the whole genre. So I’m excited.”

How tall is Nas compared to other famous MCs? He’s not as tall as Biggie was, as the late legend stood 6 feet, 3 inches, and he also comes up short of Jay Z, who’s 6 feet, 2 inches tall. But Nas’ 5-foot, 8-inch frame makes him the same height as Kanye West and Eminem, fellow rhymers he certainly deserves to stand next to.
