Rapper/actor Ice-T got back to his musical roots recently when he got his thrash metal band Body Count to reunite. If you’re 25 or older, you should remember how controversial this group was in the early ’90s. The group was at the center of a firestorm in 1992 when then-president George H.W. Bush and other politicians were waging their war on music. Body Count became a target of the respectability police because of their brutal song “Cop Killer.”

Well, more than twenty years after that controversy, Ice-T and his crew have reunited and made a new album. The group celebrated their new album with a concert at New York City’s Gramercy Theater. During the show, Body Count performed the controversial song “Cop Killer,” but this time around it was a little awkward. Why was it awkward? Well, most people now know Ice-T for playing Detective Odafin “Fin” Tutuola on “Law & Order: SVU.”

It should be noted that not one police officer was there to protest or slam their record label for allowing them to perform the scathing song. My, have times changed.

Check a brief clip from the show below.
