Maya Rudolph and Jaden Smith are teaming up for HBO’s latest project. Maya and Smith have signed on to guest star on the cable network’s pilot, Brothers In Atlanta. The project centers around two best friends Langston (Diallo Riddle) and Moose (Bashir Salahuddin) who are struggling entertainers attempting to balance their personal and professional lives in Atlanta. Both Riddle and Salahuddin best known for their writing/performances on NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, will star, executive produce and write the show.
According to The Wrap, Maya will play Shirle, a former 90’s R&B diva who is also Moose’s challenging boss. Smith will play a “New Atlanta” teenager named Curtis, who lives next door to Langston. Curtis is said to be loud and boisterous neighbor who’s erratic behavior and suspicious income brings about attention. Both Maya and Smith will be placed on recurring status if the show is picked up for a full series. Brothers In Atlanta will reunite Maya with her former Saturday Night Live boss, Lorne Michaels who will serve as an executive producer and with Riddle and Salahuddin who served as writers for her self-titled variety show. No word on when the pilot will start production.
