Iggy Azalea has long been criticized for using ghostwriters, so much so that her mentor T.I. came to her defense last year: “Iggy got her own ideas and thoughts that she presents to the world in her own way.”

However, now it appears as though new details have emerged regarding just who wrote Azalea’s 2014 smash hit, “Fancy.”

During an interview with Sirius XM’s Sway In The Morning, alongside DJ Drama, Inglewood, Calif. rapper Skeme alluded to ghostwriting parts of the chart-topping single.

After confessing to being a ghostwriter, Skeme also revealed that he had previously written on a Grammy-nominated song, but wouldn’t say which one. “That’s what the ghost is about,” he said. “I’ve got a certificate and a nice ass suit and like four or five plaques,” Skeme added.

Sway being Sway, went on to probe Skeme further, before finally getting it out of him that he’d contributed to Iggy’s “Fancy.”

“There’s a song that became in 2014 one of the most played songs on radio,” Sway said. “I heard you penned [it]. Female artist… With a female singing in the hook… Who is from overseas… Does it rhyme with Wiggy? [Laughs]. I heard you wrote verses for ‘Fancy.’”

“We had something to do with it, a lot of vibe, a lot of push,” Skeme said. “We put trust funds up for that song. Shout-out to that song.”

However, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers doesn’t have Skeme, given name Lonnie Kimble, listed as one of the song’s writers.

In addition, it’s also important to note that Wikipedia lists Azalea, Charli XCX, The Invisible Men, Jon Turner and Kurtis Mckenzie as the song’s writers, but not Skeme.

While there are different forms of ghostwriting, Skeme’s confession seems to imply that he’s not officially credited for the song. So we’ll just have to wait and see what Iggy has to say about his claims.
