Kodak Black is coming home.

Kids all over the internet have been promoting #FreeKodak since he was arrested back in May for violating terms of his bond deal.

The 19-year-old Florida rapper was arrested in October 2015 for robbery, false imprisonment, marijuana possession, and driving without a license and was released after he reached a bond deal. In April 2016, Kodak made the terrible decision to lead LAPD on a high-speed car chase while he was out in Hollywood. Subsequently, a Broward County judge revoked his bond and put him back in jail.

Today, Kodak, born Dieuson Octave, appeared in front of a judge, who ultimately decided to release the hip-hop newcomer and place him on house arrest. The decision wasn’t an easy one for Judge Lisa Porter. It came after much coaxing from Atlantic Records executive Michael Kushner, who testified on his behalf.

“He’s only at the very beginning of a very promising career. It is our hope that the court will agree that he be given the opportunity to turn his life around,” Kushner told the judge.

In response to the legal team’s decision to plead no contest, Judge Lisa Porter responded, “I will give you an opportunity, Mr. Octave, to prove yourself here, and be a productive member of society. What happens from here on out is up to you.”

According to Derek Fisher, a reporter from an ABC local Florida affiliate WPLG, Kodak may be released later on today or tomorrow. Kodak will serve one year on house arrest and will be placed on five years probation.

Kodak Black garnered popularity when his breakout single “Skrt Skrt” received a major cosign from Drake last fall.

He’s since released his Lil B.I.G. Pac mixtape and is featured on French Montana’s MC4 lead single “Lockjaw.” Hopefully, Kodak will learn from these experiences and become a productive citizen.
