West coast veteran, producer/rapper Warren G spoke to HipHopDX late today (August 11th) and clarified his recent post on Twitter.com/WarrenGeezy on August 9th, the day after the confrontation between Joe Budden [click to read] and Raekwon [click to read], when the g-funk creator wrote, âI’m tired of these cats doing video blogs if ya boy got socked he should have swung back quit simpin homey.â
âI was talking to that dude Mickey Factz,â Warren clarified to DX regarding his Twitter post. âI shoulda put his name on [the post]. I ainât disrespecting Joe Budden, and I ainât⌠Raekwon is my dog. And I ainât just taking sides or nothing like that either, butâŚitâs like this, if you got six dudes in the room and itâs two of yâall, why you gonâ say that you heard your homebody get socked? And you not fighting. Thatâs what Iâm trippinâ off of.â
Referencing the Bronx emceeâs video account of what happened when Raekwon and members of his crew came into Joe Buddenâs trailer â where Mickey Factz was with Budden filming live via the Slaughterhouse spitterâs blog â as he prepared for a performance at the Los Angeles stop of this yearâs Rock The Bells tour, Warren highlighted that his Twitter post was aimed squarely at Factz and no one else.
âI ainât got no problem with Joe Budden, I like Joe Budden,â said Warren. âBut how this nigga [Mickey Factz] gonâ say he down with him, and he ainât helping the nigga fight? Yâall just gotta take a ass-whoopinâ!â
With a song featuring Raekwon (and a chorus from Nate Dogg recorded prior to the singerâs first stroke in late 2007), â100 Miles and Runnin,ââ having just been added to the final tracklisting for Warrenâs soon-to-be-released new solo effort, The G-Files, one could conclude that Warrenâs Twitter post was a pledge of allegiance to the Chef in his beef with Budden. But the legendary left coast producer explained to DX that he isnât taking sides in the two emcees disagreement.
âRaekwon is my nigga, [but] I ainât in what [Budden and Rae] had going on,â Warren clarified. âI ainât in that. Iâm just listening to this dude on the thing crying, and telling a story, and talking about itâs a sucka move. A sucka move is not helping your homeboy, thatâs a sucka move. Câmon man, thatâs not part of the game. I donât care how many dudes it is, if my homeboy getting rat-packed, we gonâ get rat-packed together. You got to keep it one hunnid. He talking about you real, that ainât real. If I was Joe Budden Iâda whooped [Mickey Factz] ass.â
If Factz decides to take the above statement from Warren as a declaration of war, the elder statesman in the game advises the rising rookie to skip recording any kind of diss track aimed at the G-Child.
âI donât even know this dude, and I ainât trying to know him either,â said Warren of Mickey. âAnd I ainât dissinâ him as far as that Rap shit. I ainât trying to hear that. I ainât gonâ sit up here and let you tell me, âOkay, well Iâma rap and talk about you.â It ainât going down like that. If you wanna holla at [me] we can chop it up, and Iâll tell you how I felt. And thatâs how I felt [in that Twitter post]. I donât dislike you. I donât dislike that guy. But why you gonâ get on the screen and say that? He look like a punk, getting on a screen simpinâ.â
âBut you know what,â continued Warren, âit ainât no disrespect to Mickey Factz, Joe Budden or Raekwon. I got love for Raekwon and Joe Budden. I donât know the other dude to say that I got love for him. I donât know him like that. But, if he feel like he gotta speak about it, call me⌠Iâm not gonâ get on no record trying to battle nobody. He can chop it up with me ear-to-ear, face-to-face. We can sit at the table. If you wanna catch a fade, thatâs good too.â
The G-Files is due in stores September 29th on TTL/E1 Entertainment.
