Thank you Nas for that poetry! It is true the rappers can help bring out youth back. But first it has to start with home! My young black youth PLEASE tell me why are you so angry?! I want to help?!.. I have been in your shoes but no where near as bad as it looks now. I come from a broken home, I come from where my parents hated each other and they took that hatred out on me. But I am 36 now and I can say there is light at the end! ~Amen!..

I abused myself as a teen: I fought (girls and Guys), I got low grades (later I brought them back up and graduated), I had sex as a teen.. Why cause I was out looking for some1 to want me to love to show me praise.. I too just like you wanted to be loved!.. this is whats missing.

WHAT I DID:
I found a comforter: His name is Jesus!.. Look find a spirtual being you can believe in! U don’t have to choose mine but please find 1! When you have something you can look forward too it will help with your mind set. Things will begin to open up. Prayer is a power thing. it took many years for me to get where I am and I am thinkful in that. I was 30 yrs old before I really knew I was a child of GOD! U say it but to truely understand the realness behind it is something different and I was 30 when it was revealed! ~ Hallelujah!!

Take a pin and paper title it Me Myself & I
fold it three ways to make 3 columns | 1 | 2 | 3 |
In these columns make the following titles:
Wants ~ list what you want in life no matter what they are: Start with simple first then dream big! :O)
LIKES ~ What do you like about your self? list words ~ Get a dictionary if needed.. But fill this column up with positive things about you and only YOU! :O)
GOALS ~ where do you want to go in life? ex: I want to be able to walk in to blank mall and buy 300 sneaker or shoes. I want to be a doctor, I wan to .. Fill this area of where you want to go in life. this column is to be done only after the 1st 2 are completed! DO not do this column 1st or in the middle! Why as you hav not set up the positive thinking until you completed the 1st two columns. AGAIN THIS COLUMN IS DONE THIRD!!!!

After doing this exercise and ask to you pass this positive feeling onto others and you too can not share you have contributed to the goal of changing the minds of the youth.

HOMELIFE:
If your home life is unstable and ruff there are local agencies that can help. Please call them and check your options!

After you have completed the above exercise please take it to your parents.. and ask them to do it as well. This something you do in the home and no one will know what is going on in you household.. SO your not looking like chump a punk or anything to next man. When you feel you are confident enough share with friends or class mates then is when you share the love! ~

I hope I have contributed to you Not being so angry!.. My Youth Please I need you to grow older! I need you to contribute to my social security as I need you to take care me as an old person! :O) I want you to share your stories with your kids.. I want to be the big moma who watches your kids as you go out to work! as you make a family!.. Great words but its more deeper than what Nas said or what I can say: Coming from those same streets on the southside of the CHI, the violence been going on from the birth of street gangs til now. Just neva been caught on video for the world to see and react in this day and age. Its a cycle, which i’m sad to say, will continue UNLESS parents, both parents, take a stand and raise productive black men. I was in those same situations many times never thinkin about a future or consequences. But until you leave the hood and its mentality, you will most certainly never get a different perspective on life and the world. But for those who cant you gotta want more outta life. Cause when they see you, they see me.

It’s about time that Hip-Hop keeps it real about the negativity that surrounds us. I love the fact that he’s with and not to our young warriors. We all know how much our children look up to the icons of hip-hop and it’s about time that somebody accepted the fact that they are role models for the kids whether they want to be or not. I’ve always felt Nas not just cuz his flow is deadly, but the fact that he’s always demonstrated that hip-hop is deeper than beef, bling, and “fuck everything” mentalities. He’s one of the few cats out there that keeps me believing in hip-hop. My heart is heavy by the loss of yet another young warrior, but the weight is a lot easier to carry knowing that somebody that’s in the position to touch the world is speaking up about the ignorance that we surround ourselves with.
