The_Game_Diary_Of_A_Gangsta-front-large

I guess you can talk as tough as you want on a record and in interviews but at the arraignment it’s only entertainment. As hard as The Game has tried to be a “gangsta rapper” he doesn’t want anyone in his court case to know about it.

From TMZ

Gangster rapper The Game doesn’t want to be referred to as a gangster rapper anymore — but it’s not because he’s changing professions … it’s because he’s trying to win a court case.

The gangster rapper’s legal move is part of a lawsuit that was filed against him in 2008 — in which he’s being sued for allegedly punching a guy during a pickup basketball game and then pulling a gun on him.

In the new documents, the gangster rapper is asking the judge to 86 all references to him being a gangster or gangster rapper during the trial … because he’s afraid it would prejudice the jury against him.

In the docs, the gangster rapper also doesn’t want any mention of his lyrics during the trial … because they contain references to violence and profanity.

I understand where you’re coming from Game, but that’s why we have to watch what we say and do, it can haunt us and it set’s a bad example for our children. Ever think you might have been targeted for such a reaction just so you could be put behind bars and someone else could get payed like a fat rat? Watch it baby, they don’t like us.

The man is in court. He should do everything in his power to not go to jail.
I don’t blame him for trying to use any technicalities to get out of a system that hasn’t worked for Black people in the past. Especially for those without money.

All I got to say about this is: YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW. His way of life and the life he portrayed got him in the mess in the first place. The judge should deny the request. You do the crime, then do the time. I’m sick of all these “well-to-do” celebs getting off with sum bulls**t leniency just because theyre famous. Meanwhile ordinary, no name thugs are paying for their crimes with their lives. Bulls**t.

Seriously, are you all stupid or illiterate. He is not going to jail or prison. The matter is a lawsuit, which means the person he punched and pulled a gun on is suing him for money. In case you didn’t know, the man suing him is also Black.

So, this is not a racial incident, and the rapper known as the Game is an idiot. He doesn’t deserve sympathy, empathy, or any kind of consideration from the community.

People, please wake up. This is a man who has made millions off of glorifying violence, disrespecting women, and basically setting a bad example for our youth. He even said kids don’t need an education past elementary school. He’s a pawn of “The Man” that keeps our youth believing that they can achieve nothing, that we can only rob, rap, or play ball, and if you do succeed, you should make Black women feel like crap, and give your money to blonde barbie.

@ComedianPharoah: You sound just as stupid as whoever it its you’re trying to call stupid and illiterate. If you truly knew the justice system, you would know that it is unethical to convict someone based on image they portray for a living. A jury is supposed to make a decision based on the events leading up to and during the situation in question.

It it Game’s constitutional to ensure that he receives a fair trial and that the hearings revolve around what happened and not how he makes his money. It would be the same as convicting Arnold Schwarzenegger because he murdered people in his movie. I don’t hear you attacking the movie industry in the same manner you’re attacking hip hop artists. They also made even more millions marketing sexual and violent images to the youth.

ComedianPharoah, you are the one that needs to “wake up.” Some hip hop artists come from the same gritty backgrounds reflected in their music. Violence, drugs, illegal income and nasty women are part of the realistic territory of the urban black communities across America. Anybody from that environment has their constitutional right to speak on it. I guess you’re trying to deny them the right because that harsh reality haunts you. You must be a church fiend. It’s one of those on every corner in the hood, so why won’t Jesus take all the bad stuff away?

If you would have actually paid attention to what Mr. Taylor said, he pointed out that the public school system is largely ineffective, especially after elementary school. I live in Kansas City and that is very true. They are closing schools down because of huge dropout rates. The schools resources are being squandered by the people in charge that are screwing around with the taxpayers money! You got some nerve trying to blame hip hop for the choices people in power make. If hip hop artists didn’t have much money and their art form wasn’t commercially accepted yet, you wouldn’t even point the finger at them, I’m sure of it. Help the community you came from the best way you know how. Even if you are, don’t blame the next man for what you thinks he’s doing to tear it down. Cut the s**t!

He is supposed to ‘keep it real.’ Which is real Jason, the rap career or the court? I am sure if it is granted, he will say that is entertainment and a fraud, but once he wins (he probably won’t), he will say that he played the courts to get off so he won’t lose face. I think everything about him should be used. If he is real wit it, then be real wit it in court too! If it’s entertainment, let it be known.

@Doc-V: Basically, all you showed is that you don’t know who I am at all. First, I am from East Oakland, and I am pretty much tired of hearing about another friend or family membered killed in the streets of my city. I am also pretty sick of people making excuses for celebrities that don’t give two sh*ts about the community they came from, but rather just make money so they can try and compete and live with the white folks.

I admit that I am not a lawyer, but I highly doubt that you are either. However, my sister is a former Senior Attorney for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. I also scored a 175 on my LSAT. Once again, if you read the article, he is on not on trial for criminal charges. He is being sued, so there is no conviction even possible. He can be found liable and have to pay somebody money, but there is no conviction. Also, they run civil actions after criminal actions because an actual conviction will automatically lead to a win in civil court.

Now, as far as being a preacher, I am far from that. My city has been the murder capital of America more times than any other city. Half of the kids killing each other believe that they have no future, believe that a quality education can’t help them, and believe that they have limited possibilities. Part of that means that we are not using the resources around ourselves. This is a problem and needs to be fixed.

Secondly, I did read his statement, and he called the educational system a babysitter and a way for the government to keep tabs on Black youth. He also said that his teachers in Compton didn’t seem to care about the students. Then said “kids stay in school.” Our children, both men and women need to understand and value their education, and that part starts at home.

About 10-15 years ago, Kansas City was given a huge educational boost, with new computers, books, and other teaching supplies. Many of the computers were stolen, the books also came up missing. The were awarded another set, and the same thing happened again. It was people from the community drugged out or just wanted money that took everything. Their selfish behavior set back our kids.

This particular article was on the Game. I didn’t delve into the motion picture industry because most of the actors are being paid to mouth the words somebody else wrote. We also know that the movies are fiction. Rappers like the Game, are projecting that their words are how things are, and what they believe in. Much like a poet, but they have nothing good to say.

I love Black women and I think they should be held in the highest regard. The Hip-Hop industry constantly minimizes and degrades their value, and in turn life has started to imitate entertainment.

Yes, I have an education. Yes, I am from a rough area. Yes, I moved back to Oakland to see if I could provide jobs for people so that some of this violence could be curbed. What have you done except assist the Aryan Nations and those that want to Black community to vanish through ignorance and self hatred by making excuses and give undeserved support to those that do not care.

Be mad at me all you want, and call me what you want. I just want to see my community get better and achieve more.

What exactly has the game done that is gangster? Has the game done anything that could be compare the say Al Capone or Frank Lucas or any other gangster for that matter? I don’t really think rap certifies you as a gangster ( no matter how many albums you sale.)

@ComedianPharoah:I know that I don’t know who you are. You obviously don’t know who Jayceon Taylor is. I don’t know him either, so I refuse to judge another black man who is a part of a culture I love so much: HIP HOP! Also, you don’t know who I am either. However, you left some demeaning statements about someone for the world to see, including me.

I’ll also state that in college I was a pre-law major at one point. I intend to finnish my bachelor’s degree and re-enter the study of law. I know the difference between a civil and criminal case. In both cases, a jury can be present. All I was trying to get at is what is ethically fair in any court. I’m not making excuses for anyone. I’m no bleeding heart liberal! I apologize, I shouldn’t have used the word convict without also using the word judgement in the same sentence.

Moving on, I must say that I believe in justice. You and I both know that justice in America for a black man in the legal system is about as hard to come by as winning lotto ticket! Much like you, I’m also tired of the sickening state of urban black America as well. However, let’s not echo the a*****es of conservative white America by implying that every single wound in our community is afflicted by our own hands. Getting back on the issue here, Game doesn’t trash black women in every song he puts out. Listen to “Dreams” produced by Kanye West. He is in my opinion uplifting the black race and our accomplishments in that song.

Also, Game does employ needy blacks with his Black Wall Street record label and he did own a stake in an ABA basketball team that showcased young brothers and their athletic skills. It’s not his responsibility to do everything. It is well doc**ented that the man has given back to the community in some shape or form. Hip hop as a whole has done much for the plight of young black America. 50 Cent’s G-Unity Foundation, The Ludacris Foundation and Master P’s charitable works are also known sources of hip hop giving back. T.I. even started a housing program that helps low-income people attain affordable housing. These are just a few instances of charity attributed to some of the most affluent artists.

By me buying a record recorded by any one of my favorite hip hop artists, I refuse to take the blame for supporting the degrading of black women or destroying the black community. Whether you like what they are saying or not, they are exercising their right to free speech. Growing up poor and black in America is not easy. If a man’s experiences were rated R, why should he have to give a G rated interpretation of what he grew up seeing?

The music industry is not the only source of negativity found in entertainment. I love black women too. However, is it realistic that every black woman in the hood is inspiring to be the next Michelle Obama? Hell no! I’ve worked as a tutor in inner-city schools in my area and black girls as young as 10 already have no desire to finnish school. They want to have children before they are 18 and live off of child support and welfare. Let’s not pretend that there are not people in every low social situation of every color that aren’t looking for an easy way out.

To make it in America when the gold wasn’t handed down to you takes a lot of brains and hard work. The poor will always be among us. Face it, not every child is going to grow up and be productive in society. It starts with your family and in the home. People need to diagnose the plight of urban black America as it is. Lots of the problems come from people who have mental illness and inferiority complex based on how they were raised. Not enough fathers are telling their sons to practice safe sex. Not enough fathers are even in their son’s lives! There are way too many 35-40 year old black women that are already grandmothers. That is to me not normal and it comes from a lack of common sense.

I grew up in a rough part of my city. I grew up around the type of children you described in your posting that stole resources form the Kansas City school district. 90% came from families much like the ones I just described. Teenaged mothers, 30 something grandmothers, no visible father, etc. When you couple that kind of family structure along with that fact that the school board delivers poorly and that there is discrimination in employment, racist law enforcers and politicians who don’t do anything but give lip service to the worst problems, what type of hope do you have?

Now mind you, I’m not about playing the victim or advocating the violence. But unless the powers that be are integrated with people like you and me, what type of change is going to occur? I love Obama. But he’s not like you or me. He worked as a community organizer in Chicago but he didn’t have to grow up facing the trajedies that you and I saw. When you experience those things very young, as you grow older, you develop a better sense of urgency at preventing these problems. You also can naturally interact better with the people you’re leading that are going through these problems. I appreciate your educated response to my analysis even though I got a little angsty. The true spirit of hip hop, you, me and the children of the ghetto are one. Don’t forget who you are.
