Snitching? So basically you’re saying its ok to bring drugs into our neighborhood which is the primary factor in the destruction of so many young people. THAT is ok. But when someone starts helping the Feds stop more destructive products from entering our community… then he’s tagged a snitch. Your priorities are screwed.

that’s not what I’m saying. He obviously had no problem bringing in the destructive products into the hood while he was dealing them. If he was a law abiding citizen who brought down the suppliers he’d be a hero. But he was a drug dealer who cooperated with authorities for his own good.

My point of bringing it up was to show the perils of drug dealing. World famous drug dealers like Alpo, Nicky Barnes and Frank Lucas all cooperated with authorities…Stop snitching is just a code big dealers use so they won’t go to jail.

My thing with Hip Hop is that all these people condemn snitching but then first thing they do when they get caught is to cooperate with the authorities.

Poisoning the hood is not a good thing, but let’s not act like these dealers are noble when they give up their sources

I agree Casey… but I can understand why he would start talking. A half ton of cocaine is a lot of time to serve. My issue with the no-snitching thing that is that the concept is now covering more crime. You see someone on the street get stabbed – stop snitching (see the UConn murder). That guy was dumb enough to post it online as though there really is a such thing as anonymity on the internet. Here in Chicago we have kids being murdered on the street and no one is talking. I understand gang intimidation but when you talk with these kids they begin with “i aint no snitch”. It’s pretty sad.

good points for a bystander to report a murder its not snitching and should be applauded, but for a criminal to tell on anther criminal it’s another story.

snitching as i know it applies to criminals who inform on their partners to shorten jail time.

I agree that in people should be safe to report crimes without gang intimidation, a lot of this comes from rug gang culture..but most of the bosses who promote these laws would snitch in a heartbeat
