You see? This is what the people from the south fail to realize. I’m from the midwest but I reside in TX and I’ve been in this industry for a very long time. Its not about who sells the most records, its not about who has the most money, its not about who gets the heaviest rotations on the airwaves, its about talent. Its about lyrical prowless, its about creativity, delivery, word play, flow, style, caedence and it just so happens that the south has none of that. I can name every lyricist form the south that can actually can spit: Outkast, Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater, Bun B., Eightball & MJG, Geto Boys (although Bushwick Bill is from Brooklyn NY), Ludacris, Chamillionaire, Trae, Z-Ro. None of the artists I have name has come to the eastcoast and have gotten booed. So its not about where you are from with the east coast fans, its about can you spit and its just so happens that mostly everybody form the south can’t spit worth the damn. All the artists I’ve just named are the souths best artists period. NO ONE ELSE!!!!!!! The east coast still has the best collection of artists in the game period. Then the midwest, west coast, then the south. When it comes to skills, the south will always be last and the east coast will always be 1st because its impossible to do something better than the group of people who created it in the 1st place. They will always have it perfected. When it comes to rap, knowledge and history of it, the east coast fans will always be better fans than any other reigion because it was orginated there. Most fans from the south have proven not only do they have a lack of understanding of the history of it, they have also proven that they have a bad ear and ear for talent and music, poor taste, and what an artists suppose to have when he’s wants 2 be deemed a great artists.

Midwest picked it up for a short minute and then it went to the south. Back then, the West Coast was like most people are claiming the South to be. Don’t ya’ll remember when there was a point in time where everything ya’ll are saying about the south, everybody was saying about the West? Including me! Next thing I knew, I fell in the love with the West Coast because I started hearing hot ish over there.

Now, the south, I remember liking people like 8Ball and MJG and that was about it while liking mostly East Coast hip-hop. Then came The Dungeon Family and I soon forgot that the south was limited to gangsta and commercial sounding records. Now, there are some artists I like down here, and some I don’t. I gravitate towards the lyrical dudes with the innovative beats. I like some crunk ish, but mix it up with something innovative and you’ve got my attention.

Now-a-days, it really ain’t about East, West, Midwest (the part of the country who keeps a hip-hop artist I’m feelin’), and the south. It’s about Mainstream and Underground…let’s face it, the mainstream artists are “contrived”. Maybe even “controlled”. They give the average “dummy” something to dance to. Let’s be realistic. No matter what part of the country we are talking about, the Underground seems to have the most talent bar none. I don’t have a beef with The south or any part of the country anymore. I don’t understand these NYC people? They act like they are entitled or something. Jay-Z is basically irrelevant. He is only confined to those rude New York fans and a few other places (excluding international appeal). In the south, we really don’t care for NYC artists unless it is Q-Tip or other non-jealous artists. Although I don’t condone what OJ Da Juiceman and Gucci Mane rhyme about, these artists produce the hottest songs at the present time. NYC seem to be stuck in time (1985 or a little later). Guess what? The Wright Brothers invented the airplane in Dayton, Ohio, but today Boeing builds jets the near Seattle and other places around the world. So, why are some New Yorkers stuck on thinking Hip Hop has to always be in NY? It really seem like there look beyond their borroughs. The rest of the world is more diverse than just NYC!

Me personally don’t think alot of the rap coming out of the south really represent the southern artists with skills. I can’t find too much from Young Buck, Stat Quo or most of any other southern rapper who hasn’t been all over the mainstream media as of late. T.I., Wayne, Luda, Rick Ross (yeah I said it. Its like New York is just a big ego trying to live up to its own hype, but it is not able to withstand authenticity of the south. NYC is just in a loosing battle.
