I saw a doc**entary of how fur is removed from an animal while it’s STILL ALIVE, and it aint pretty!! They basically ripped the animals ENTIRE fur off in one piece from its back side to its nose, which was the most GRUESOME part because you could actually see and HEAR the fibers of flesh being torn from the animals body and THEN the animal just lays there convulsing, and gargling and gagging on its on blood!!

I think Kelis is completely bent! I became a vegetarian in response to the inhumane treatment of animals raised in factory farms. I am not opposed to people eating meat and I serve meat to guests but am diligent about serving only humanely raised and healthy meat. Most factory farms raise animals under the most inhumane conditions imaginable, then pumped them full of hormones and antibiotics which are harmful for human consumption. By the time they reach slaughter, many of them are sick, injured or even dead but are still process as food. Even the enzymes secreted by animals under severe stress at slaughter diminishes the quality of the meat. Just because something is meaty and delicious does not mean it is good for you. Not every animal used for food is treated in this manner. It just takes a little research to find healthy and humane sources if you prefer to eat meat. No doubt, PETA extremists, like any other extremists, are crazy. Although PETA is not my only source, it has been a good source of education and support for me when going veggie. A little education never hurt anyone.

Gigi_ambition, it would be great if they could just shave the animals, however if they did they would have to weave the fur to make a garment and fur staple length just isn’t long enough to spin. Sheeps wool is long and tends to cling to other strand around it which make it ideal for industrial production. Bottom line the fur must stay attached to the skin….it’s a shame with all the technology we have we haven’t found a way to do this yet…. btw I don’t have any issues with people who wear fur or with those opposed.

Not only that…Just because she responded that way doesn’t mean the girl is not educated. I myself do not wear fur and wish there were other alternatives. I don’t like fur because, for the most part, the rest of the animal is not used (for meat, etc), which I feel is wasteful. Also, the way fur (and meat) are acquired is pretty torturous for the animal (I believe in quick and humane slaughtering). I also think that fur is too ostentatious for my taste.

That said, Kelis made some very good points. I think she is very intelligent and was very astute in her response. Still, I think fur looks better on the animal.

Lol the fact that most people are focused on the eating meat part just shows that no one really pays attention. The organizations’ main focus it the inhumane treatment of animals. This means the way that they are killed in order to get the fur etc. That is fine if you do no like certain animals but to be and sound so well dumb just shows how far you have come. Not far at all.

I mean come on are YOU serious. And there are African Americans that are with in the PETA organization as well so come off the point the finger at the White man horse ok really. I stand by the fact that she could have made the same points that some of us are making on this blog in a more educated way.
