The issue w/black men dating out is the “shirnkage” in the dating pool when they do so. What I mean by that is this. Unfortunately the world is race based and the notions of sexuality and beauty adhered at the foundational beginnings of American culture are still persistent today.

AA women, in general, and formerly, AA men, along w/some other minority cultures, were traditionally viewed by a white mainstream attitude as asethetically unappealing and since our ancestors’ were viewed as subhuman the idea of dating us was out of the question for the majority race. This unfortunate ignorance trickled down to other cultures and asians, some hispanic and other cultures took on the mentality.

Fortunately, for black men, they have come up in the dating game while the ignorant sexist racist disdain still is geared toward black women. Many sisters still feel the brunt of negative image and men of other cultures being reluctant to cross the line and date us.

In observation I have learned alot of it has to do w/family pressures. Sometimes daughters are encouraged, for economic reasons to date people, even of other cultures because parents are about securing their daughters’ futures. On the other hand, men are encouraged by all cultures to date w/in their ethnic bounds. Black women are not the only ones who vocalize their distaste at black sons/brothers/friends dating another race. We’re just the only ones who are constantly in the lime light when doing do. We haven’t learned the art of quiet protest like so many of our counterparts of other cultures.

But rest assured, white/old school mothers and fathers encourage their sons to stay w/in their color lines, as do hispanic women and asian women. I’ve encountered enough experiences w/sisters trying to date out to know.

So please dont’ act like black women are the only ones who complain. we’re just the only ones the cameras and the mics get turned on because the black male female gender war is a hot topic and a money maker for mainstream media.
