C-Murder entered a plea of no contest on Wednesday (May 27) to two counts of attempted second-degree murder, according to Nola.com.
The case, which is unrelated to another murder case, is in regards to an altercation in Baton Rouge, LA. Police say that C-Murder, real name Corey Miller, attempted to shoot a club owner and bouncer in August 2001 after they denied him entry because he refused to be searched. Miller’s gun jammed, and the event was videotaped.
Miller’s plea deal calls for a 10 year prison sentence. However, he was given credit for time served in jail and under house arrest. Considering that Miller is required to serve a minimum of 85% of his sentence, it is possible that it could conclude within months.
“Good luck to you, Mr. Miller, ” said Judge Tony Marabella as he approved the plea.
Although his second-degree attempted murder sentence could possibly conclude in a matter of months, Miller is also facing an August 3 trial in Jefferson Parish, where the rapper is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas on Jan. 12, 2002.
Miller’s plea in the Baton Rouge case gives him a felony conviction, which can be used against him in the Jefferson Parish case. Should he be convicted in the Jefferson Parish case, Miller would be sentenced to serve an automatic life sentence.
