I said this years ago when 50 broke up Dip Set. He doesn’t have the same impact that he had a few years ago but he did have mofo’s shook to appear on people that the deemed the enemy because they thought they would get JaRuled by 50. No sort of collaboration and unity equaled a degradation of quality in some NY hip hop.

Has anyone who is not from N.Y. ever noticed that most of the New York rappers are mediocre? Yet, all the mediocre and/or made up characters repping N.Y. get the most push while the acutal good to great artists have to take acceptance. Jay had to trunk hustle reasonable doubt while Tupac was rampaging thru Biggie and the rest of the made up mafia rappers back then. 50 got blackballed so he had to mixtape hustle and get signed by Em to really break in. I don’t really see that much support for Jada and Styles P yet they are quality mc’s and seem to be respected in the industry. Biggie’s the god compared to them but Pac made biggie before he signed with puffy. Nas seems to lose every battle he gets in. Tupac pretty much ended his career but he was fortunate that ‘pac passed when he did so he got a second life. Jay crushed him and then gave him a Job. 50 told him about his chick and was right. The Fabolouses, Papooses, and the rest of those mediocre made up gangsta rappers who never drop anything signifigant are supposed to be what’s up. Killa Cam was on album covers in overalls with a sledge hammer and no shirt on looking like a complete sucka then he’s supposed to be killing nigga’s left and right. The point is, until N.Y. mc’s get their act together and give the actual talent a push the scene is gonna stay crumbled. I remember not too long ago every aspiring artist had to make noise in New York. Many people from the D went back and forth to N.Y. to c**k ride for scraps. Artists said enough to trying to conform to one particular area’s idea of music. Consequently, New York is really not any more important in rap than anywhere else. That prominence is gone forever and good riddance to it.
