I agree with them and I am a woman…My mother always taught me dont put my hands on anybody if i dont want them to put their hands on me. I agree that she should woman up. I actually was waiting to hear from the men that would want to hear her true side. I truly do not believe in the violence from either side but I would have liked to hear more from her of what she actually did. She did not mention at all that she had put her hands on him, but she mentioned that he was driving & hitting her (well what was she doing if he was still driving?) I’m a big guy (6’1″/260), and have never really had to deal with a woman putting her hands on me in anger. It happened a couple of times, and the issue was corrected…no way this man should’ve let violence progress to the point that he had to do that kind of damage…but she should never have touched him in the first place. My mom always said “If someone’s big enough to pass a lick, they’re big enough to take a lick.” So why would she just beat on him, and be surprised or upset because he finally knocked the hell out of her??? Violence doesn’t solve anything, but at the same time, there are too many skewed reports that only show men as perpetrators of violence, without showing the stats on violence against us as well.

Makes perfect sense to me. I’m not condoning domestic violence on any level whether it be man on woman or woman on man. However, women need to take some responsibility for provoking some men to use violence towards them. I’ve known women that were abused by men and it seems like a large number of people in here are making excuses for this behavior.
The “my mommy told me to hit anyone that hits me” sounds rather outdated and juvenile. This type of keeping it real attitude has led to a large number of people going to jail and dying. The males and females who use this as an excuse really sound like they need some counseling and a better prospective about life. If a women is abusive to a man he should leave just like a woman. But statistic or actual facts prove that it happens more to women then men.

Real men should just walk away, call the police or restrain her. Real men should uplift, support, teach and protect girls and women not this nonsense I read on BP. The problem is that in the black communities and on BP we have a large number of males and not enough real men.

I was in a situation ironically in some ways similar to Chris Brown, but MUCH worse. I had got into it with my then gf, we both had said things to each other that shouldn’t have been said, but once I said something to her she couldn’t take (mind you started mouthing off to me first) she was the FIRST to swing at me (not slap swing as throw a punch my way) not only did she do this, she grabbed me by my throat. Make a long story short the cops was called on us and because you could CLEARLY see where she grabbed me by the throat (yes it was marks) She was the one who went to jail and not me. If it wasn’t for her grabbing me by my throat and her ironically telling the truth in how it REALLY started I could of been the one to go to jail that night.

I laugh at the ones that say no matter what I shouldn’t hit a woman, ok so I should let a woman (thats not small mind you) try to take my head off when she swings at me and I should also let her choke me to death cause she’s a woman too right? I had moved to Florida when her situation occured & same for my friend who was being abused. I am from Michigan. Sad thing is my friend stopped talking to me behind her situation. I was very FRANK about the abuse situation and begged her to get out before it is too late and she REFUSED to press charges against him. I completely agree! No one should ever hit someone. If you decide to strike another person you can’t be surprised if they hit you back. It doesn’t matter who the person is to you. I do feel that a man should never punch or just fight normally with a woman, as if she’s his equal. But if a woman hits you simply grab her until she stops or pin her down. I totally agree!!! I am a woman and I have known too many woman who have hit their boyfriends and not once were they hit back by these men. I have seen the men in anger and walk out after a few hits. Honestly, I believe if both want to publicize what happened they need to tell the truth and own up to their own actions. I just don’t understand how anyone can get so angry that they have to put their hands on someone when their life has not been threatened. This goes on every day in our communities. I did expect Rihanna to be more honest about the chain of events that night. She painted Chris to be a monster and put him on blast. However, her eyes clearly show she still loves him. TRUE EVENTS:
There was a white man who lived in Boston about ten years ago who took his pregnant wife to a crime ridden area shot and killed her and his unborn child. Then he tried to blame the crime on black men. There is a white police officer in IL that murdered two of his four wives, they have not found the body of the last one. During an argument a black man kicked the mother of his son in the back after an argument. His son was not strapped in the car seat she was carrying and fell to the ground from a third floor apartment. There is another black man about three years ago who hit his wife thirty times with a 2 by 4 while her kids where in the house. The doctor said she had to have suffered greatly before she died. Another black man was dating this young lady, she decided to end things he kept harassing her she was in the process of filing a restraining order on him. Soon after he found out about the restraining order he decided to go up to her church and while she was in a car talking with her friend he shot her multiple times which led to her death. Eddie Curry who plays in the NBA, the lawyer for the mother of his two kids started dating her. I believe the mother was going to get a new lawyer so for some reason this black man decided to murder his ex girlfriend and one of Eddie Curry’s kids. There was another white man who drove his wife and kids to an isolated area then he shot and killed all of them. He told the police that his wife started shooting the kids and he stopped her be fore she had the chance to kill him.

The point I’m trying to make is that women don’t have to hit a man for him to beat her or kill her it happens all the time. And just because someone else does something stupid does not mean that we as human being should stoop to their level.

When I was in grammar and high school, Where I lived in Chicago and like many urban areas in states like NY, LA, Detroit, VA, DC, Baltimore and some areas down south average 7, 8, 9 hundred murders a year. Today these areas average around 5 or 6 hundred. It has been proven that men are more prone to be violent then women. The majority of these murders were done by males who murdered other males, and then males that murdered women. If you look it up I believe that women are more prone to be violent against kids and other women then against men. The cheating and being jealous problems

For every story someone mentions about a women abusing a man, I can remember at least eight where women are abused or murdered. So no women don’t abuse men at the same rate as men abuse women. It really is not even close. Violence is never good; be it man, woman, or child. The point I’m trying to make is that women do not have to hit or attack a man for him to be violent against her. That stuff about men voices not being heard and the law does not favor them, Men are the stronger of the two sexes so I suggest they leave. You need to know the history of this country to really understand. For a long time women had to fight for equal rights because they where looked at as second class citizens and basically property. To be seen and not heard from, to be in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant. Yes men are prone to be more violent then women. The truth is that women do not abuse men at the same rate. Now women and kids is another issue.

PRINCE_DEJOUR-I agree with you and I just wanted you to know that in my state the rate of violence acts go to the women. I see so many cases like this and dealing with the fact that my brothers and cousin are real men and they try to walk away and do the right thing and there wife/girlfriend beat them even more or cut them one…the law look at them as if they done somethig wrong and thats where-I had the problem with the law. Even-thou its different now-I believe the rates may have be off because the law didn’t see the men as a victim-back then. Either way the men nor women should act violent toward eachother or there children. Its sad to know that this is the real world we live in and things like this happen to children,women,and men. man i’ve seen won my female cousins bang her dude in the head with a frying pan for coming home late and he didn’t even swing back at her or nothin after being daized from the blow. his head was bloody and he was realy hurt,even though she she called 911 and told them what she did i felt like it was still rong for what she did.now where i’m from i see alot of violence from both men and women,and alot of women fight on men like it’s supose to be funny when in reality some women hit hard as hell and they can hurt a man. i also notice that when a women a man some people don’t as serious as they would if it was the other way around and thats not right at all,because all women are not week and most of the can fight,and can stand up in a fight with a man.

I’m an old feminist and I applaud you guys for having a national coalition for men. I have seen many men victimized by women (or other men) physically and in many other non-physical ways. The original aim of feminism was equality among the sexes and that includes men’s equality too.
