Chris should be held accountable for his actions. It’s not about Donnelle right now. The focus needs to remain on Chris for now. There should come a time in everyones life when they realize right from wrong. Even if Donnelle had abused Chris’ mother, I believe that Chris knew that it was wrong. There is no justification for this type of behavior from him or anyone else.

This whole thing will blow over and Rihanna will end up with a nice white guy like Halle Berry and garcelle beauvais did. Most every black guy I know treats women like s**t and the ones that don’t cheat on them or sponge off of them, and now there are excuses for this type of behavior. Well, I agree, a man should not hit a woman. Women, however, should not push a man because you don’t know what type of man you are dealing with. There are some men who will walk away, then there are those that will beat your ass. If I was Rihanna, I would have either got out of the car, or I would have shut my mouth until I was around some people. No sense in making things worse for yourself. That doesn’t make any sense.

Stop! Stop blaming the victim. There is no excuse for any man to put his hand on a woman. If she is being verbally abusive and he is getting to the point where he feels he needs to hit. It is his responsibility to leave the situation. The reason why society places a huge amount of attention on women being physically abused opposed to verbal abuse men “may” suffer via the mouth of a woman is because women are being “KILLED”. There were 8 women murdered by and an abusive partner in baltimore alone between Nov. 08 and Feb 2009. This is not a game and it is not funny. Yes, Rianna should have left the first time but we should not be blaming her. OH, and yes it is our business. Domestic violence is prevalent in the middle schools and high schools and the your girls are excepting this. It is our business to teach young boy and girls what a healthy relationship looks like so that this can be prevented in the future.

I don’t believe anything Chris Brown’s father said. He stutters over his words. He’s unclear and defensive. A clear indicative that he’s not telling the truth. Coming from a woman that has exeperienced domestic violence (DV) no man should ever raise his hand. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m a soldierette. I even stabbed my baby daddy. Yet, only after he punched me between the nose while my son was nursing. Im 5.2″ 130 lbs after the 2 babies soak and wet. He’s 5.11″ diesel, all he had to do if I caused him anger, was hold my arms down or walk. He’s strength exceeded mine 10 fold and no matter any man should exercise what I call in my dominican tongue “cabellerismo.” Be a gentleman, Christian. Rihanna your above it baby.

If you screw up in society you’re gonna have to pay for it, and i think no jail time is showing alot of men that its ok to hit a woman, regardless of what they’ve done.

You know, I am a woman who has been abused and so was my mother but I have to say I don’t believe that Mr. Brown just beat her for nothing. My cousin was hurt so bad by his ex-girlfriend because he refused to hit a woman. He was a bloody mess by the time he was able to get away without hitting her. That’s what I think. I think everyone should just chill. Like some have stated, if they were just common people like your next door neighbors… who would care. Yes, I agree that domestic violence is not acceptable. However, that goes both ways. I don’t believe Rhianna is an angel and I don’t believe Chis is a devil. They are both just humans and they are not perfect. Both of them were wrong or else this wouldn’t have happened. Women, if it happened to you, not too many people would care. You have to take care of your own business and let others handle theirs. I’m sure Chris and Rhianna possess good and bads traits just like ALL of us. Let’s NOT be judgemental.

There is NEVER an excuse for domestic violence. Yes it can go bothe ways, I have seen it, between two of my married soldiers. I charged them both with what’s called “mutual fray”, meaning they were both knocking the h*** out of one another. But, that’s a very small minority. The overwhelming number of cases out there involve men beating on women, out of anger and a desire to show who’s boss. I don’t care what a woman says, it doesn’t provide an excuse to lay hands on her.
Women should be gone after the first, maybe the second incident, without fail. Get out, it problems will only intensify and could easily get you killed. Men, get help before you hit, or certainly after the first hit. If she aggravates you that much, get out. The relationship is over. But get help. Get a grip on the anger, or find yourself behind bars. The decision to hit or not is yours to make, so choose wisely, seek counseling.
As for the mess between Chris and Rihanna, make no judgements yet. The facts are not all in yet. However, it doesn’t bode well for Chris. He may avoid jail time , if tried and convicted on felony assault charges, but that may not happen either, it may be dropped to a misdemeanor or not charged at all. One can never tell when celebrities are involved. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good for Rihanna, as seen from mthe comments thus far. She may have “provoked” the attack (which is crap, as said aboveZ), so her reputation takes a hit as well.
Two young people let their emotions get the better of them and now neither controls their own destiny, for a while at least.

Check the photo with this article. Note how Rihanna’s playing with the camera and having “fun”. Note the expression on Chris’s face.. I made a survey of some of the photo galleries, and found a lot of similar poses and expressions. I think there were problems long before the meltdown here. That’s just an observation, not a judgement. But it does indicate unhappiness on his part about something she’s doing and/or saying. Unlike some commenters, I doen’t make a connection between Chris and Mike Phelps. Phelps either puffed some weed or posed as if he were, for the shock effect. Dumb, but not something deserving jail time. I don’t see putting people behind bars for non-violent crimes, unless the crimes are pretty spectacular, as with Mr Madoff, the would be financier. I would look for alternative sentences, as I did in the military, as a commander (14 years, out of a 22 year career). I wasn’t looking to kill a decent soldier’s career for something stupid, but not really criminal. I would put Phelps in there (if it turns out that he’s in more trouble than we know). I don’t know about Chris, because as I said in my first comment, I don’t think all the facts are in, nor are all the circ**stances understood. So I won’t pronounce judgement.

I personally do not think there is justification for any violence at all. Intially or retaliating. Violence needs to stop. Cussing and calling names(verbal violence), putting each other down(emotional violence), and lastly physical violence. That crap is not cute in any fashion. No a woman that hits a man does not deserve to get hit back. She deserves to be arrested and psychologically evaluated. There are no “double standards” with violence. And for the record, the bite marks on her fingers would indicate that she probably had a grip on some part of his body and he could not pry free. But only God knows what happened.
