I agree with her there are some very good black actors/actresses that dont get the credit or respect they deserve. Its almost as if Will Smith, Halle Barry and Denzel Washington are the only black actors/actress that get respect from Hollywood. There are many great actors like Sanaa Lathan, Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Terrance Howard, Tarij P Henderson and too many people to name that deserve awards but dont get any respect. I agree totally with Regina King, and to the author of this article Urban Daily, I don’t see nothing wrong with the truth and I wish Regina had spoken about US (Black People). Every other race mention their own people and NOT US BLACKS like the Asians, Mexicans, Irish and so forth. Until recent years other award shows such as the Gramm’ys, American Music awards, Oscars, didn’t really embrace our people,although many of them were talented enough to at very least receive a nomination. Halle Berry was first black actress who won an Oscar since Butterfly McQueen (Gone with the Wind,playing a maid), and certainly I have seen many black actresses worthy of a nomination and even win in the yrs prior to Halle’s win.
