Al Pacino has been set to star in an HBO telepic about right-to-die champion Dr. Jack Kevorkian, to be directed by Barry Levinson, reports Variety.
The film will revolve around Kevorkian’s construction of his infamous “Mercy Machine,” his first assisted suicide in the early 1990s and the resulting media frenzy. Kevorkian was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999 as a result of his involvement in an assisted suicide that was videotaped and later shown on TV. He was released from prison in 2007.
The script was written by Adam Mazer.

Can’t wait… I love to see him do roles outside of macho, cop/criminal-vigilante with which he seems inextricably linked. Time for Al to make some real art!
He’ll b great!! I can’t wait to check it out!!..
Damn,….I can’t even be mad at him nor the real Dr. I’ve seen some of my OWN relatives just disolve into nothingness from terminal illness. Who in the hell can /or is willing to walk a mile in their shoes,…in that animalistic agony? Do so and then sing another tune. Experience your flesh falling off your body, then talk crap. Truth is this, until you go through it…see what you are willing to do when all the pain killers are nothing but asprin. Realize that your family and friends are watching you rot to death. When you pray and beg for mercy,….maybe he was it. Just Food for thought. Damn!!!
This is a great role to add to his list of characters. I think he is really going to nail it
Come on Al, stop taking these crappy roles. You are one of the greatest actors ever. I know you are not that desperate or broke.
