I definitely have to see the previews before i can answer that question. Nowadays, I think the previews are the best parts of the movie. Truthfully, my gut feeling is saying, “Girl, add this to your Netflix queue and wait for the DVD release date”.

It will be funny, Martin and Jamie,cant wait to see it.

What is the thing with Hollyweird putting black men in dresses? Just think about all the ones who “make it” they cross dress. Just interesting!!

I feel like sometimes the sterotypes that are shown on TV are not actually Portrayed by black women. But some black men look at us and protray black women in this way, such as this movie !

As hard as everything is in todays world we need some laughs… And believe me this is going to be as funny as HELL… Do you thand Jamie and Martin we need something to smile and laugh about….

Another movie featuring men in drag. Not funny

I mean seriously…some of y’all commenting about the negativity hollywood is giving black women or men in drag, but wasn’t y’ll the same ones in the 90′s laughing like s**t when these 2 characters originally aired? All im saying is just go see the movie and laugh stop trying to be all high class when u still drink Kool-Aid. Because both of the characters were and hopefully still funny as hell!

This would have been funny 10-15 years ago when the characters first came out. Shouldn’t Martin & Jamie have moved on to better roles by now?

And for reference, plenty of white men have cross-dressed too: Jim Carrey (on In Living Color, as a matter of fact), Dustin Hoffman ,Robin Williams all from off the top of my head.

This would’ve been funny years ago as one commentor stated, but now a days i`m not to sure. Both characters were wild back then, but we’re in 2010 what was funny 10 or 20 yrs ago was probably when we were kids.
Martin was not funny to me since big mamas house 1 and Jamie has went on to do bigger and better roles so this is a step backwards for him.

In all honesty, I don’t it offensive, but come to think about it, I don’t find it funny anymore either. My sense of humor has evolved since I was 13. Guys in drag was funny the first 50 times I saw it now it’s just like ok we’re on elmwood street, big whoop.

I am almost ashamed to say that I will be going to see that hot ghetto mess, because the characters Wanda (Living Color) and Shenanay (Martin) were 2 of the funniest characteristics that I have ever seen! When I saw the preview last yr during an award show I cracked up!

@venitabrooks and Jordan_Mom — you’re both so right-on point. This stereotypical crap really does set us back. WAAAAAY back. All I keep thinking about are the scores of WHITE college students who used to have Shenehneh and Wanda “parties” at many universities across the states (and maybe they still do — with some updated twists thrown in). They’d dress up in clothes they deemed as reflecting “The Hood” and do their best drag on Foxx & Lawrence’s characters. One doesn’t need to think very hard to imagine how they regarded their Black classmates. I was already out of college by time this behavior took hold, but I had a large number Black friends and relatives who witnessed these kinds of gatherings during their college years in the 90s (of course, they were never invited) — and the cross section of schools included a wide spectrum from the Ivy Leagues all the way down to small liberal arts colleges.

I understand that these guys are funny comedians, but it’s troubling that people seem to be forgetting how people of color — particularly Blacks — still don’t have a balanced presence on the big screen in Hollywood. We are still regarded as being great comedians and buffoons, but NOT appropriate for mainstream/non-Tyler Perry helmed leading roles in serious dramas, etc. (And, yes, we love seeing you Denzel, Halle, Paula and Zoe but there are a LEGION of other great Black actors out there who also deserve good, substantial roles to choose from) I think I’d feel totally different if Black actors had a solid spectrum of non-stereotypical performances instead of being pigeon-holed.

Think of it…how many years has it been since they’ve performed these 2 characters?? Has it been a decade — or more?? There’s no other dignified original roles for them to play??? What’s next, Eddie Murphy reviving his Buckwheat character??? I can just hear Dr. Dorothy Height, Dr. King and Malcolm X roll over in their graves.
