We’ve seen many larger famous people die way too young due to not addressing the issues of their health. I myself just started a diet due to health issues that may arise in the future, but it’s not an easy thing to address or accomplish.

I felt that Gabourey was excellent in the movie, but her size will limit her roles as many director’s will simply look past her talent and right to her size and physical limitations.

The beautiful thing about a career in acting, is the expansive (pun mildly intended) array of roles to be played. Actors similate real (and fantasy) life.
In these plains of existence you find people of all shapes, sizes, ages, and walks of life.
There are actors and actresses that range between newborn to 96 years old.
My point is that if this young lady is a good actress, then why wouldn’t there be roles that she can’t play in?
The controversy she emits may have producers and writers tailor make (pun again implied on purpose)roles (rolls..yeah they keep on comin)custom for her size and look.That aside, there will always be big girls that are part of movies and shows, and this young lady would probably be among the top sought after to fill that position.

However, there is nothing funny about being obese. There are a lot of health risks that come with it. We need to show our love and support to Gabby and the many overweight people like her. i mean yes it’s unrealistic to be a size 2 or a size 8 but it’s extremely unhealthy to be a size 26…and don’t fall that bulls**t…that ‘fat cells’ are in her genes…and a thyroid problem, especially at a young age, doesn’t cause you to be 150lbs overweight…no one is judging her but be realistic…heart disease is the number one killer of african-american women brought on by hypertension…’the silent killer’ and diabetes…which people have at any age…don’t act like obesity doesn’t cause these diseases…she is 4 times as likely to get one of those diseases before she reaches…middle age…and i think she is beautiful…and i hope to see her in more positive roles…(in my opinion) because she is very educated…so why not let that side shine? but she needs to drop the weight for her health.

i have to agreed with howard i was wearing size 50 pants kidney and liver going down hill i was and still am type 2 diabetic also have and still have high blood pressure. i drop down down to size 42 i am still big. my doctor said if u don’t loose i will in 1 or 2 years this was in 2008. ever since that doctor appointment i join the gym and go to the gym 6 days week. as of 3/12/10 my blood pressure under control and diabetes under control. key word under control. if i didn’t do something i would have died. please SIDIBE loose weight for yourself. i already see she already lost weight. u have so much to offer to your fan.

Besides the fact that I think some of the things he said were mildly racist, I do believe there’s some truth to it. Obesity increases the risk of certain cancers, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes, all of which kill Blacks more than any other race, including Latinos (check out stats at CDC.gov). She’s young and gifted, but I would hope that she doesn’t (or anyone else) exploit her weight anymore for acting roles at the expense of her health. I’m not picking on her or defending Howard.
