What’s Better: ‘Next Day Air’ Or ‘Star Trek’?!

The small budget film Next Day Air [click here to read our review] received a three star review from respected film critic Roger Ebert, while the movie’s weekend competition, the estimated $150 million budgeted Star Trek [click here to read our review], earned two-and-a-half stars.

Starring Mos Def, Mike Epps [click here to see our interview], and Donald Faison, the movie centers on a group of couriers from Philadelphia whose constant smoking of chronic leads them to accidentally drop a big box of cocaine at the wrong residency. The comedy is directed by Benny Boom who is recognized for directing music videos for artists like Nas, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, and Snoop Dogg.

Next Day Air was released on Friday, May 8.

    I haven’t seen NDA, and don’t plan to. How can you compare them, they’re not even the same type of movie. Star Trek was excellent! As for the fans….they’ve already spoken. NDA opened at number 6 or 8….Star Trek at # 1.

    Are you high? There is no comparison. I saw the NDA premiere. I thought it was very funny. Most of the roles were over the top stereotypical. From the 5 finger discount brotha that stays faded, to the OG cholo, the Ay papi muy calienti Domi mami. I was disappointed that Mos Def had such a small role. I am a big fan. Now as for Star Trek. I was raised on Capt Kirk. The movie was very good. I am could not for the life of me get wrapped around Spock and Ohura. WTF!!!!!!!!! HELL NAW! They weren’t ready for a brotha in space back in the day. Avery Brooks broke that barrier with Deep Space 9. Ask me which DVD I would buy? NDA!

    I just checked out NDA, and it wasn’t all that bad. I’ll give it some props for them, not using the “N” word. Mike Epps was hilarious as always. Yasmin Deliz was fine, and I hope to see more of her in the near future. Obsessed, pretty good. Taken: Outstanding sleeper hit! State of Play: I’ll definitely see. Wolverine got my dollars. Star Trek: I just don’t know. My boys saw it, and they were perplexed by the plot. I’ll see it after I’ve seen everything else. To each his or her own.

    Star Trek was the best movie I’ve seen in awhile.You cant compare the two movies.It’s like comparing apples to oranges.two different genres.Next Day Air is gonna have to wait for DVD.I’ll take a full range of etertainment over a few stereorypical laughs any day.But I agree with someone above.I did not like to ahura and spock love affair.But I am interested to see how it builds in later films.Looks like spock and kirk in a dual for her sometime.

    star trek sucked ass man and i was waitin for like two yrs 2 see it good thing i watched it on bootleg bc i dont know what i would hve done if i went and paid 12 bucks 2 see it at the theaters i also jus watched next day air last night on bootleg lmao and it wasnt bad but wasnt good either i guess it was worth more than a watch than star trek althought they both sucked terribly !! i advise anyone who hasnt saw either one of the movies yet 2 google free online movies and watch them there !!!

    well i personally liked star trek and i really didnt have my mind set on seeing NDA and considering what i’ve heard about the movie, i’m glad i didnt go…and to those of you who are complaining about them comparing the two, yes they are different generes, but they CAME OUT ON THE SAME WEEKEND, that’s why they’re comparing them…to see how they did at the box office…
