Backyard Boogie: Top 10 Booty Songs

By January 6, 2009 4:37 pm

<br />

Not to be confused with Miami “booty” music, these are my favorite songs about that wonderful, traffic-stopping part of a woman’s anatomy.

10) “Rump Shaker” by Wrex N Effect

Teddy Riley and the boys ushered in the era of swimsuit music videos and the horny sample of “Shaft In Africa” is an inside pun that never gets old.

9) “Big Ole Butt,” LL Cool J

Scandalously honest, this is the song LL has been apologizing for ever since with all those lovey, dovey duets.

8 ) Ms. Fat Booty, Mos Def

The quotable “Ass so fat you can see it from the front” is cemented in the lexicon of cat callers forever.

7) “The Thong Song,” Sisqo

No he wasn’t singing about butts, but what else do you look at in a thong?

6) “Bonita Applebum,” A Tribe Called Quest

38-24-37 are tame measurements these days (Buffie is 34-27-45) but it proved that nice guys love booty, too.

5) “Da Butt,” E. U.

With the help of Spike Lee these Go-Go brothers made us all want to go to college, just for one night.

4) TIE: “Fatty Girl,” Ludacris, LL Cool J and Keith Murray/”Bootylicious,” Destiny’s Child

The Trackmasters put a funky Fat Albert inspired soundtrack to work and Keith Murray gave birth to new slang with “Badonkadonk.” Thanks to Beyonce and the girls it’s ok for good girls to flex a butt cheek every now and then.

3) Juvenile, “Back That Thang Up”
That N’awlins drawl makes Juve’s instructions so dirty yet so effective.

2) Mystikal, “Shake Ya Ass”
If you’ve never experienced this song in a strip club you’ve never truly heard it.

1) Baby Got Back, Sir Mix-A-Lot
The girls in this video suffered from a bad case of “noassitall” but you can play this vanguard booty song damn near anywhere and folks know the words: “I like big butts and I cannot lie!”

Brother Barrow, Thanks for bringing me back to my senses. I must have slept in the Oak Tree like Rip van Winkle or something. Hey man! These hits will definitely never run out of style. I guarantee you, they will turn out any club, anytime, anywhere around the world. Peace, Earl
