Sorry but their performance sounded like shid last night. Madonna was wack too…but her back up singers were on point. Rihanna know she could have put some leggings on for this serious event. Bono’s prob mad at this garbage. You didn’t even hardly hear him. All you heard was Rihanna sounding like shid. Jennifer Hudson kicked Beyonce’s butt with her performance.

SMH…This dude t-boy02 below asked… “why in the song does he say ‘its not angels that will come’ or ‘and hands will be for helping not praying.hmmmmmm”….

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m guessing you interpreted those lines as somehow “ungodly” or offensive to whatever YOU believe..

(Let’s see how many idiots come on here with the “devil worshipping, Illuminati crap…)

First of all, just because you and a bunch of other people believe in something, that doesn’t make it real. “Angels” are as real as Santa Claus and flying reindeer…But you’re free to believe whatever nonsense you want…

Secondly, that second line is mis-quoted and taken out of context…You left out the word “just”, and this is what he REALLY said:

“and hands will be for helping, not JUST praying”…

You tried to make it seem like he’s against prayer, which is NOT what he meant. But for the record, “prayer” isn’t gonna help those people AT ALL!!

It might make the people who are DOING the prayer feel better, but there’s absolutely NO “supernatural force” or “spiritual energy” involved. You can get the same effect from non-religious meditation, or any other ritual of self-imposed tranquility.

And here’s another reason why “prayer” is a useless waste of time:
Let’s assume this “god” that people believe in was real…

Assuming that this being was all-knowing and existed before the universe itself, this being would have already known what every person was going to ask for in prayer even before the universe existed, so why waste your time?

-To believe that “prayers” could actually have an effect on such a being to change “his/her” plan or mind at the time the prayer is made, is to believe that such a being never anticipated that the “prayers” would be asked…And that is completely contradictory to the concept of an “all-knowing god” that is perpetuated by religious people.

-Or to believe that such a being would decide AT THE TIME the “prayer” is made to answer it, is to believe that such a being didn’t PREVIOUSLY know how “it” would respond to those “prayers”… And that is completely contradictory to the concept of an “all-knowing god” that is perpetuated by religious people.

Even in instances where it “SEEMS” as if “prayers” HAVE been answered, (assuming that such a being did exist), the same logic would apply: the “prayer” itself would be irrelevant and have no bearing on the CIRC**STANCES being “prayed” about, because both the “prayer” and the circ**stances would have been foreknown, and the outcome of those circ**stances would have been pre-determined, before the “prayer” and universe itself existed!!

    So why waste your time?!?!

The line that I wanna address is from Jay-Z:

“Here’s my theory, the country’s already starving, so he sacrificed many to shed light on all of them”

OK, first we had Pat Robertson saying a pact with “the devil” was the cause of the earthquake, now Jay is saying “god” caused it…

Ironically, this is what religion forces people’s minds to fabricate.
Because if there really WAS an “all-knowing”, “creator of the universe”, then how could this disaster, and any other, NOT be part of a plan???

To believe in such a being, and attribute these realities to something OTHER than such a being, shows an extreme deficit of logical reasoning.

It would take too long to explain, especially to people who have been brainwashed by religious dogma, but in short, if you believe in an “all-knowing” being that is the “creator of everything”…that would mean EVERYTHING!!!! Not just stuff that is convenient for some human belief system…EVERYTHING!!! That would mean absolutely NOTHING would exist or happen (including EVIL), unless this “creator” made it or let it, therefore the ULTIMATE responsiblity would belong to that “being” ALONE; free will would only be an ILLUSION of choice to all other beings, but in reality, EVERYTHING would have already been foreknown and predetermined!!!

I know it’s hard for some people to comprehend, but if you use your brains and not what your told, you’ll get it.

There’s more reason to believe the theory that HAARP created a man-made earthquake rather than all that religious crap, even if that theory is unproven.

The most reasonable theory, however, is that earthquakes are just part of living on this planet, but the economic problems facing places like Haiti should be addressed as man made.

wow… interesting concept sef_ali im sorry you feel that way about my God… but i could really care less about if Jay-Z is a devil-worshipper or not since he wont affect my relationship with God… i feel that you shouldn’t care either sef_ali since neither God or the devil exists to you what i BELIEVE [from experience and not from what i was told] is that we couldnt possibly ever understand why God does what he does when he does it and its best to just trust him and his decisions… oh and no one is mocking you for not having any faith so you shouldnt mock others for having their own. God Bless You and Jesus loves you!!!

    @ mimi329

You said….. “i feel that you shouldn’t care either sef_ali since neither God or the devil exists to you”…

Well, you’re entitled to your opinion and so am I. But just because I don’t share the same beliefs as other people doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t comment on what people believe.

Like I said, people can believe whatever they want, and I also have the right to say what I want. I like debating these topics because I try to make people re-examine their beliefs. If I get ignored, so be it.

As for what you say you know or believe from “personal experience”, I can’t change your perception. But from my perspective, I would define your strong faith in what you believe, the same way many people define faiths that are contrary to their own. For example, a hindu or buddhist may tell you that from THEIR personal experience, they KNOW that their faith is the true one. Yet, because you believe in a different faith, you would probably say they’re just wrong, regardless of what they felt in their personal experiences. We both see each other as being wrong, and on that we can agree to disagree. But, I don’t just SAY you’re wrong and that’s that. I actually try to use logic and reasoning to show you WHY you’re wrong. So why won’t you analyze what I said and tell me WHY I’m wrong?

    As far as this statement:

“we couldnt possibly ever understand why God does what he does when he does it”

Well, religious people are ALWAYS claiming to know what some “god” knows, and what this “god” is supposedly like.

For example, the concepts of being “eternal”, “all-knowing”, “all-powerful”, etc,etc are constantly perpetuated by religious people.

Yet, it is only when someone questions the many inconsistencies and paradoxes of such claims that religious people want to back out of the debate and play the “nobody knows” card, and insist that we just accept such beliefs and claims at face value without using our brains and logic to challenge them.

When you make such claims that there is an “all-knowing”, “all-powerful”, “creator of everything” that has always existed for “eternity”, you wouldn’t have to have to an equivalent mind to such a being to surmise that certain things would LOGICALLY HAVE to be true, if we use your logic and ABSOLUTE characteristics of such a being. What religious people fail to realize is that these ABSOLUTE DEFINITIONS that are attributed to such a being make unexpected limitations and paradoxes that make their whole belief system contradictory non-sense.

Then you say….”its best to just trust him and his decisions”

This insistence to just have blind faith has been rampant throughout history in all religions, and even crazy cults.

This has been especially true in Christianity (and Islam).
For example, the church actually tortured and killed thousands of people for making scientific discoveries and using critical thinking to challenge such religious myths that the earth was flat and the center of the universe.
Go look up Galileo and just study how the church operated throughout history.

History and plain common sense should teach people to question everything.

And as for me “mocking” people of faith, I’m not just SAYING people’s faith is ridiculous, and that’s all. I’m actually using logic and reason to show WHY those beliefs are ridiculous. Again, I respect everyone’s RIGHT to believe whatever they want, but I don’t have to respect WHAT people believe.

For example, you wouldn’t respect my beliefs if I said I believe the universe was created and controlled by talking cupcakes and stars are made of fruit loops!! You would say that’s some ridiculous bullsh*t, even if you feel I have the right to believe it.

The difference is you wouldn’t waste your time debating me, because I’d probably be the only one that believed that crap.

Where as I think the most popular religions are just as ridiculous, but they deserve to be debated because BILLIONS of people believe them and these religions have had, and continue to have MAJOR influence on the world we live in.

I challenge anyone to “mock” what I believe, and please show me where I’m wrong. Trust me, I don’t think I’m a know-it-all, because if you can present some convincing logic to convert me to your side, I’ll be happy to admit I was wrong.

Look, you all missed the whole point of this performance, who the hell cares who Jay-Z, Rihanna, or Bono worships or believe in. At least they are doing something to help the people of Haiti, are any of you? Why is it that individuals always find something to critisize even when people are trying to do good, wow, it never fails. I thought it was a good performance and what the performance was about and stood for! Bono has always been at the forefront of helping OUR people, especially in Africa while we sit at home in our comfortable lives not helping or doing anything. Too much negativity amongst our people, it has to stop! We are constantly putting each other down as if we don’t know the pain and effect of doing such a thing or maybe none of you heard of slavery and how we as a culture didn’t have to put ourselves down, it was being done for us. It has to stop!

Like someone said, if Jay is worhsiping the devil that is on him. Only one can judge him for what he is doing or have ever done and that is the same one who will judge us no matter what name he/she is called, there is definitely a superior being who knows what we do so let that being do the judging and the chastising!
