Keyshia Cole Explains Why She Cut Off Her Family

Rumors have been going around for awhile that Keyshia has cut off her biological mother Frankie and sisters Neffe and Elite.  Today, Keyshia issued the following statement through her publicist:

To all my friends and fans – It’s time that I clear the air. It’s not a secret that I haven’t been in contact with my mother Frankie, and my sisters Neffe and Elite and I never wanted to air out our differences to the public. While I won’t go into detail here I find it necessary to let you guys know I decided to stop communication with them because I was at a point in my life where I needed serenity and peace to move forward. Please know I love my family very much but it was time to let it go. You guys are a witness to a lot of what was happening from watching on air and online.

Now that I am becoming a mom my passion for having a loving and peaceful home for my child is my #1 priority. It’s very important to both Daniel and I. My plate is very full; I have a new baby coming, we are planning our wedding and I am working in the studio on a new album that I am close to completing. The stress that my family is giving me with their constant false reports is not healthy and it’s not what I need at this time in my life. Please understand that there are only a few people that can officially confirm or deny anything that’s happening in my life and that’s me, Daniel, and my publicist, Tresa Sanders. And my girl Monica never lies.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of Frankie appearing on an Atlanta radio station claiming that Keyshia and her fiance, Daniel, have already tied the knot so that their child will not be born out of wedlock.

    I think dat was da best decision she made in 2010…Her family used her to get them going and she finally see’n how they take advantage…Im glad she made this choice…Hopefully they stop the frankie&neffie show next lol

    I think she needed to do that. Her family is somewhat of a mess and tends to keep things going. I watched her mommma and Neffe act a straight ass to the point I got pissed off and wanted to fight. She is doing the best for her. She needs to relax and enjoy her pregnancy. Im glad she is happy and at peace; because thats all that everyone wants. To live a happy and peaceful life with the one you love.

    I think that is wonderful and that was a great statement to release to the public. It’s sad that it all plays out for the world to see, but I think she’s a smart girl and deserves to stay blessed and tranquil. I know for experience, sometime blood aint no thicker than water. Putting your health and happiness and the betterment of your child first are always the top priorities. Cut out tha people who drag u down and aint tryna maintain.

    Ah, I feel bad for Keyshia in a sense that she has a mother [Frankie] and other siblings that she loves very much– and yet they bring soo much unnecessary drama to the life she’s worked soo hard to build.. But I knew this would happen sooner or later.. No one can take that kind of stress when they don’t really have to. I wish Keyshia the very best and God will continue to bless her, because she has done all she could for her family!!

    frankie is still a crack head and neffi keep having kids and thats too much drama for anybody i watch the show and i know frankie holds a gruge aganist keyshia mom she should be glad that she did not turn out like the rest of them that women raised a beautiful young lady she needed to get away from them too much drama i am glad she found someone and god has blessed her with a child i always thought they would bring her down but the girl is smart. i hope they dont invite frankie to the wedding

    Keyshia is pregnant and all those hormones flares up/is sensitive may make a pregnant person mean and all of sudden one can’t stand being around certain people..I know when I was pregnant I could not stand being around my husband..In addition I couldn’t stand the smell of fabric softner..

    Since people need an explanation about things can someone please explain to me you Keyshia even has to explain herself. Its very evident that her family is a mess from day one. They are too ghetto and embarrassing Im shock she hasn’t cut them off sooner. She is an adult who wants what is right for her baby, and too much ghetto can corrupt a child. I’m proud of her to cut her family off that is a huge step, and like I said I also don’t blame her.Congratulations on your success Keyshia.

    I met her auntie on a flight from Oakland. I could not believe the way that her own mother and sisters used her and twisted her. I know she is doing the right thing! Maybe one day they will learn to be decent. For everything that she has done for her family Keysha has tried, and they did nothing but take advantage. She needs to start a new life with her baby and her fiance. She is doing the right thing. Focus on what is important in life, your family and God.
