raekwon-new-wu-feat-ghostface-method-man

When Raekwon, Ghostface, and Method Man announced they were going to be the BBD to Wu-Tang’s New Edition, expectations were understandably high.

Fortunately they have yet to disappoint.  Here’s a song that may or may not be on their forthcoming album. Using a hefty chunk of one of my personal favorite pre-Off The Wall Michael Jackson solo tracks, Rae, Ghost, and Meth deliver the goods!

I knew it. When I looked at the comments and saw they was positive I knew it must have been some pop sounded mess that’s so far from the wu tang sound that it aint even funny. Sadly I was right.

The wu was my fav group for many years but they fell off. Its partly because of Rza moving away from the classic wu sound and partly because the members don’t seem to go hard anymore. This is the kinda stuff that they woulda been dissin if they was still the same group.

I knoe people will say something like “they grew up” or they “evolving” but progressions makes you better, not worse. Wanna hear real wu songs listen to Guillotine and Incarcerated Scarfaces of Raekwon’s OB4CL, Box in Hand and Daytona 500 from Ghostface Ironman album.

Hell basically go back and listen to any wu or wu affiliate album from 93-97 and a couple of songs from “The W” album and you’ll hear what the wu and real hip hop is supposed to sound like.

Wu-Tang forever muthuphuka’s lets bring back dat flava dat made dem gods hot in the early to mid 90′s

I have to say, the track was nice. Now, I’ve been thinking hard about the sound. Wu Tang isnt the same group as they were in the 90s. Sorry. Should they be? NOOOOO! If they are, most of us would be happy, but they wouldn’t have grown. Growth is necessary. And they have done so, and thats a good thing. They may have left some of us behind. And thats ok too, as long as they are achieving what they set out to do. Thats what I loved about the Wu, they did things their way and fans responded. Cant stand when artists do things the fans way…we are fickle. Might as well do what you wanted in the first place. Create something we haven’t heard before. Say something new. Bring a new sound Rza. If I dont like it, well I dont like it. But evolve…keep moving forward. All fans won’t be able to appreciate the moves, but still keep it fresh!

I can’t be called “growth” if you moving backwards. There is nothing wrong with staying the same and not moving if the thing you staying with was brilliance. People seem to think change for the sake of change is good. ITS NOT!!!! If you change and move forward then its something to be proud of if you move back its regression and nobody wants that.

M.O.P is a classic example of how it should be done. Keep it the same as what made you popular. As the old saying goes, “dance with the one who brought you” and what brought the wu to prominence was dope HARD beats and razor sharp darts.

People will say “they need to reach out to new fans” I say fuk the new fans. If its a choice between few fan who probably think wayne and jeezy got talent and the ones who bang your stuff no matter what even in a place where people think you crazy for liking that “kung fu sh!t” (Miami in my case) then you need to make music for those ho had your back since 93.

If they miss out on some 16 year old teeny boppers who think Nicky Minaj is the best female rapper then so be it. They even said it themselves, “wu music is not for everybody” it for those 5% who are not dumb def and blind who don’t listen to the song impossible off of wu tang forever and respond with “why they using so many big words”?

On an intro to triumph, ODB said lets take it back to 79, well the wu need to take it back to 93-97 and bring hip hop it its knees like they used to.

    This track fire!

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/billy-danze1/ billy-danze1

U-God??? LOL. U can only really go hard on thumping beats (Careful Click Click, and no exit come to mind). This is just not up to the Wu standards. RZA need to just take it back to 95 and leave it there.
