You know what? I say we do a test. I say do this…take away all the videos and just listen to the music. Nobody would buy that s**t. I mean, they’re not really buying now. These cats’ music ISN’T selling the albums. It’s their VIDEOS that gets the attention because everyone is walking around with JUST enough clothing to cover a damn napkin! Dudes didn’t like the song “Single Ladies.” They liked the video. Figured they could get their girl to shake it up so they bought the album.

Crazy part is how naive the industry execs are. “Downloading is hurting album sales.” Not they’re not. Eminem can still do 5-10 million. Jay can do 3-6 million. T.I. is good for 3 or 4. Nas is good for 2-4. So that tells me that people ARE willing to fork out the ends for some good, QUALITY music. So why are they shocked when somebody like “OJ da Juiceman” only sells 300,000 like “we didn’t market him enough.” Uhm, no…I heard that Elmo sounding dude screaming “AYE” on damn near EVERY song this past summer. Just face the fact…nobody LIKES that dude. Its VERY possible. You woulda have thought they would have figured it out with the steady decline in their paychecks. Nope. Still trying to “force” artists on us.

What I’ve noticed lately is the more intelligent, the more you require more in-depth lyricism. Cats nowadays take great pride in NOT knowing s**t, so people like Nas basically talks over their head.
