My most priceless moment was christmas 1985. I was 7 years old. It was the night before christmas, and me and mother was baking some cookies and poured a big glass of milk for Santa Clause. We put the cookies and the glass of milk on our living table,so when Santa came in the door with our presents that would be the first thing he saw. My mom tucked me in bed and told me when I awake the next morning I will have a lot of presents up under the tree, and Santa Clause will eat all the cookies and drink the milk. I waited to my mother left the room and made sure she asleep.
I wanted to suprise Santa, so i hid under our living room table.Well I heard a noise at the front door so put my blanket over my head, so Santa won’t see me. I heard him puting presents under the tree. Then he begin to eat the cookies and drink the milk. Now was my chance to meet Santa,so i jumped up from under the table, and said “Merry Christmas Santa”. It wasn’t Santa it was my father with one cookie in his and a milk mustache. His face was priceless, my daddy was Santa Clause.

My most memorable and will always be better than any other Xmas in the future is being on patrol in Iraq during OIF (2007). We came under attack and I had never been that scared in my life. No one was hurt just some vehicle damage from explosions. When we got in, it was mail call, I had a letter from my 2 sons telling me I was the best mommy and daddy ever (single parent). They loved me and they support me because I support them. I cried and had a knot so horrible in my throat because I was still shaken by the earlier incident. I felt so blessed, so honored and realized at that moment I was more than a soldier, I had become a part of history. They think I am the boldest greatest mom in the world.

My Christmas’ that I got to come home are the most memorable ones, but the one that I remember like it was yesterday was the year I was pregnant with my first child. I had just moved from home all the way to California and I was so home sick I could not understand the feelings I had. I had always been around family for Christmas and this year I was not. I was homesick, pregnant and missing family like crazy. The only thing that kept me from losing it was listening to the Christmas music that I listened to while growing up. We took a train from CA to LA, a long trip and we still had to drive all the way to Baton Rouge from New Oeleans, which is not that long but it felt like it, LOL. But once we got home I felt such a relief and a calmness came to me. I just didnt realize how speical family was until I didnt have them that year. For me its not about the presents but the warmth and joy you get from being around family and loving the togetherness.

My priceless moment would be back when i was about 10 or 11 years old, i was living with my mom, she worked on wall street and still couldn’t afford to get us a christmas tree,so we thought about what we could do and all we had were some nails, and a couple of strings of christmas lights, so we drew a tree on the wall, put the nails in place and hung the lights in a tree pattern. It was my priceless christmas because she’s been gone for about 10 years and i’ll never forget how hard she worked, and the sacrifices made to make me happy. you can’t put a price on that!

My priceless moment: You can never imagine how it feels when the only thing you have to eat for a whole day has to be taken from you by some incident that you could not control. This moment came when my mom stood in front a the church to share a testimony of a life long difficulties she as a single mom went through in the hands of adversities. She forgot what I told her a long time ago. I never forgot how it happened that fateful day after that almost passed without food. She managed to go get some shrimp and spices to prepare soup on the evening the a family of 3. when the food was almost completely cooked, she tried to set it down and suddenly, the pot fell off her hands to the ground. she could do nothing but to stare at the situation and wept. I walked up to her, picked up the sandy shrimp and washed them and prepared a new meal for the family. I walked up to her in her bed while she was crying and said to her ” someday you gonna use this as a testimony to glory God” and she looked up and said ” yes my son.” She never recalled that incident but it was always fresh in my mind. After she finished, i told the mic and added that part of the story and almost everyone in church was touch when i started crying. Crying because of how God has been faithful and brought us from poverty into wealth. That is my priceless moment and I thank God for such a moment.

November 28, Thanksgiving 2002 is my most priceless holiday memory. Probably will be until I’m gone. My whole immediate family made it to celebrate with us, even some cousins from our extended family stopped by. Not that it was unusual, everybody comes through to get some of my grandma’s homemade rolls and sweet potato pie. It’s priceless because it was my grandma’s 83rd birthday and last celebration I got to spend with her. Somehow she knew too. She said, “Y’all better enjoy it, I probably won’t get to make no more.” Who would’ve believed that? She been bout it since 1919. She never took no mess from nobody and never showed any sign of slowing down. Truth be told, I thought she’d outlive me and I’m only 28 now! It’s been 7 years and I still haven’t had as good a holiday as that one. This year especially. I got 3 first cousins MIA for the holidays. One out to sea in the navy and 2, a brother and sister, facing 7 year bids on seperate charges. December 4th was the 7th anniversay of my grandma’s death and first year I haven’t cried cause I miss her so much. I guess I can say I’m healing now??? I know folks will probably think this is a sad story when they read this. Trust me it’s not. Yeah everything isn’t perfect right now, but it hasn’t been and never could, since we lost the glue that bonded us. It’s cool though. Because if you would’ve had the pleasure of knowing my grandma, and taking part in all the good moments with us, you could smile like me when you think of her. That’s how she would want to be remembered. So, no matter how dark the days ahead may become, I can always reminisce on brighter ones we shared. I will always have November 28, 2002. R.I.P. Leathia Adell Washington, I Love You.

My most memorable Christmas, was when I was 9 years old. My family was going through hard times financially so friends we knew forever invited us over for the holidays. Before Christmas we had a good time hanging out with our friends. My mother was real cool with her friend and my sister and me were really good friends with the children in the family. Since I knew my mother was struggling financially I really didn’t put that much pressure on her to get me a whole bunch of things. The only thing I wanted was a Walkman. My sister just wanted a CD player. Although we was going through hard times I thought for sure that I was going to get my walkman since it was only one thing. But then like 2 days before Christmas I overheard my mother telling her friend that she didn’t think that she would be able to get it. I was disappointed like most kids would be if they knew they were not getting the one thing they wanted for Christmas. But then I realized that it would not be the end of the world if I didn’t get the walkman and I should just be happy to get a good meal on Christmas. So on Christmas I get up not all that excited because I’m not expecting to get anything. My friends open their many gifts and show me and I am a little embarassed because I have nothing to show them and nothing to play with. Then my mother and sister surprise me, they give me a wrapped present. I am totally shocked because I wasn’t expecting anything. I opened it and it was my walkman, with batteries. My sister of course got her cd player. I thank my mother, I am filled with so much joy and even though it was the only gift I got compared to the numerous gifts my friends got, I was happy. It meant so much that my mother did everyhing possible to get me something for Christmas. From then on I learned to appreciate anything I got for Christmas, no matter what it was.

If I had to choose a moment in my history as my most priceless moment, I would probably say that graduating from high school and leaving home for college would top the list. My high school career was pretty much immaculate and very much enjoyable. I finished at number 9 in my class of 200+, graduated in the National Honors Society, and overall made the leap from childhood to adulthood all in one summer. The most important part of this whole equation was the impact it had on my family, especially my mother. I’ll never forget the day I officially left home to attend college at the University of South Florida. My older brother, being in the military, told me to hold it down in the real world and keep my head up. My little sister, who was just 14 years old at the time, looked to me and told me that she wanted to follow in my footsteps when she got old enough to do so. Last but not least, my mother looked me in the eyes and told me that she has always had faith in me to succeed in life and be a great inspiration to those around me. She was so proud of me for being the first in my household and within my generation to go on to college and continue our tradition of success in my family. While all of this was important, as I walked away I heard my mother say for the first time I can recall in so many years that she loved me and was glad to have me as her son. To this day that moment is still heartfelt and cherishable, and I could never put a price on what that meant to me to have someone who actually cared and believed in me throughout my struggles and hardships in life.

My most priceless holiday memory was the very last x-mas I spent with my mother before she passed away. I remember going to visit with her and taking her gifts, she was in good spirits even with her illness and pain. I rememeber sitting with her for hours just talking and sharing stories and memories never once did it cross my mind that would be my very last christmas with her. She passed away a few months later. I miss my mother dearly and every holiday I reflect on my very last x-mas I had with her it will forever be the most important and most priceless to me until i see her again in heaven. I cant wait …..love you mom.

my most priceless holiday memory is a few months before Christmas i had to have major surgery that left me in the hospital for a little over a month. Then when i was able to go home i was placed on bed rest for another month. Just 8 months before my surgery i had my son. So it was a hard time for me not being able to hold my baby. but the important thing was i had family and a really good friend to support me. So just a couple of weeks before christmas i had began pyhiscal therapy to walk again and my son was almost 11 months by then had started walking and i remember watching him jump up in down when he saw me walking for the first time in months and he ran to me. I t brought tears to my eys cause i felt like i had missed so much but just bing able to hold him for the holidays meant so much to me. That is my priceless moment.

Living another day is priceless to me but I have to admit

There is nothing more beautiful than giving from one’s heart and soul

spending time with family and friends during the holidays enjoying

The music, decorations, smell of fresh christmas trees, foods being prepared(greens, ham, turkey, yams)

but there is nothing more priceless than remembering what christmas is truly about Jesus Birth and the celebration of a selfish less man.

So helping others out there who can use your donations, assistance, shelter, warm meals, comfort, smile, kind words, or
    a nice gesture

If I could ask for anything in the world it is that we treat each other with kindness, respect, dignity, forgiveness, and love each other throughout each and every year now that to me is priceless :)

    Peace and Everyone goodluck

My most priceless memory was just last year…You could kinda say it was a doubly pleasing holiday. It was early November, and I was crying and praying every day. I was a single parent, having to sacrifice alot for my son. I had not worked at all in 2008, it was not that I was not seeking, there were just NO jobs at that time.I had NO idea where my sons christmas was gonna come from.Don’t get me wrong, I have family and friends that I could have went to for help for that situation. But no one made me become a single parent but myself, so I HAD to be responsible for this situation MYSELF.Then a week before Thanksgiving, I had put my son on the bus, still walking around feeling like the world was caving in I went about my daily ritual of cleaning house(didn’t have a job,no excuse for house not to be clean!)and crying a little bit more throughout the day. Then the doorbell rang, it was the mailman, with ALOT of mail. She said the reason she came to the door was because there was a check for me and there had been a couple of mailbox thefts in the weeks prior so she at least wanted to make sure that it made it to the right person.IT WAS A CHECK FOR ME!!I didn’t tell anyone, just got dressed and called a ride(small sacrifice, MY CAR). I went to the bank to cash the check so that I could begin to work on my son’s Christmas list.Matter of fact, I left the house with 3 things, the check, my id, and my phone..nothing else! Well, while waiting in line in the bank to cash the check, I received a phone call. It was a local employment agency, telling me that I had got a job that I interviewed for MONTHS prior that I assumed I had not gotten! And that they needed me to start the following Monday!I accepted the job and prooceeded about my day, that check was EXACTLY enough to get ALL my sons Christmas list and give my friend gas money for taking me!I realize that the holidays are about SO MUCH MORE than the presents, but only I am allowed NOT to get something for Christmas, NOT MY SON!So,I was GREATLY BLESSED on November 13, 2008(yes, I remember the date!). So I had a BLESSED and BEAUTIFUL Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years! If I won this money, I would use for a new car (not brand new, slightly used, but new to me) as I don’t have one.And I still have this GREAT JOB that i need one for! And there are things that I am now a little financially able to do for my child, but it is a struggle day to day to ask someone to use their car!But to whomever wins.. May your path continue to be blessed with PEACE, MERCY and LOVE! I realize that there are people out there in much worse shape than me.And GOD will make sure that what is for me, it is for me.Thanks BIRDMAN, for giving me a chance to share my testimony with you!I hope that ALL who read this realize that if you NEVER STOP PRAYING, HE WILL ANSWER!!MANY,MANY,MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU!

It was 2008 when my grandfather had just gotten over surgery on his throat, you see he had found out he had throat cancer and the first time they caught in time. But the second time it came back. So he had to go in and have surgery to remove his voice box. Several months after that my mother and cousin notice that my grandfather was moving slow and took him to the hospital and from there they said he had a stroke. From that point on my mother worked as long as she could and eventually stop to take fulltime care of my grandfather. She struggle through countless times and holidays, and no matter what she stayed faithfull to her duties to her father illness. Whether it was going to hospitals visits, nurse visits, home care. She cared for him, never left his side, and putting him in the nursing home was never and option. It was times I would see her cry on countless times, but my grandfather told her everthing would be all right. And from that point on she never stop doing her duties. Over time up to October she did what she was suppose to do. After that my grandfather went to be with the lord in oct. 09. For the longest my mother has struggled to raise two children on her own. And even now she trys to make due with what she has. I never asked her for much, because I know she would have to struggle to get it. She did something so amazing, by adopting me and making me apart of her family at a young age. My mother took me out of a dangorus situation, and made me a member of a wonderful family. There has been so many memorable events. She has stayed when all of her sisters and brother decided to leave, she remained faithfull to her ill mother who died in 94. My mother has always took care of her family not one to complain about anything. If she won the money, she would most likely pay her bills and put the rest in the bank. In this world there are some people who are truely sent by god to either keep you in line, make things better, or care for you. I would like to thank you Bird Man, for giving me a opporunity to share my mother and her story. May God Bless you and your Family……

MY MOST PRICELESS CHRISTMAS IS WHEN MY FAMILY GOT TOGETHER TO HAVE CHRISTMAS AT THE NURSING HOME WHERE MY GRANDMOTHER LIVED. WE SANG CHRISTMAS CAROLS FOR THE RESIDENTS. WE DID THIS EVERY YEAR BUT THE LAST CHRISTMAS BEFORE SHE PASSED AWAY JUST SEEMED MORE SPECIAL THAN ALL THE OTHERS. I LOOK AT THE PICTURES FROM THAT DAY AND I AM OVERWHELMED WITH LOVE. IF I WAS TO WIN THE MONEY, I WILL GET MY MOTHER’S VEHICLE FIXED. SHE IS THE ELDEST OF HER SIBLINGS AND I WANT TO DO THINGS FOR HER AS SHE DID FOR HER MOTHER, MY GRANDMOTHER.BEING ABLE TO SPEND A $1000.00 ON YOUR MOTHER,AND SEEING HER FACE WHEN YOU GIVE IT TO HER, PRICELESS!!!!!!!!

My most priceless Christmas I ever had or in this case have, will probably be this year. As I child I never really celebrated Christmas. As an adult I am blessed enough to live in Michigan and have a job that covers my bills. Currently I have a couple of friends staying with me and one of them has a child, who spends half of the month here also. Its been a struggle to try and provide for myself and 2 (or 3 depending on if the child is here) other people on my paycheck alone. In the previous years I have wasted money buying useless gifts for people. This year the money that I have saved for Christmas will be spent buying a couple of presents (for the child) and buying an equal amount of presents for Toys for Tots. I struggled with the idea of buying something for the two adults that reside with me but I think they understand that we have many things to be grateful for. I’m hoping that the presents I buy for the child that is staying here and the presents I buy for Toys for Tots will remind kids that we make the best out of the situations life has handed us. As long as we have good hearts and intentions someone will always step in and try to make our lives easier by helping us through tough situations. I didn’t learn that lesson until I was an adult. Hopefully that lesson can be passed down to younger generations.
