I think the thread is mislabled. It should be rap not hip hop. Hip hop has done alot and with plenty of good people doing good things to back behind. but rap on the other hand who do we have out here that is making a positive impact on our society ? whos giving back to the community ? dont get me wrong i love rap as you can see its on my page and thats really all i listen to. but when you got these parents lettin these little kids get into they lose the part of the whole label ( entertainment ) and most of them think what they see on tv should be a reality for them. There are a few rap / hip hop artists that are out there making positives for example lyfe , ludacris, common and a few others along with old timers. But most of the rap artists, hip hop artists and althletes are making big money and what do they do with the money ? use it to endorse illegal activities instead of trying to give back to the community or doing something for the kids.

Actually, I think the problem is that they never LEAVE BEHIND where they came from. It’s a sad testament to our generation; where being from the hood or the gutter is some kind of badge of honor instead of simply meaning what it really is: a location of circ**stance. Everyone has struggles and obstacles they face throughout life, some more so than others. Being from the hood shouldn’t allow people to use that as a scapegoat for their actions and behavior because regardless of where you’re from, you know the difference between right and wrong. And a lot of these rappers have the unique opportunity to get out of the ghetto and become more financially stable than their humble beginnings would let them imagine. But they lack the ability to realize that in order to maintain success, you have to adjust your behavior accordingly. Bad behavior eventually equates to a bad/poor lifestyle and rappers don’t seem to get that becoming rich and successful means that they can no longer behave like criminals. If they wanted to keep doing that, they should’ve stayed in the hood. I have no sympathy for any of them. To me, it only proves how uneducated they are and completely unaware of what it means to be a responsible, mature adult.

You all need to do better, if its the fact that you have lost your minds that’s cool, but keep in mind there are places set up for that too.
