This new track from Robin Thicke’s upcoming album is pronounced “Me-I-Play” and features Jay-Z. Check out the song, in studio video and photos below. Props to Nahright.
i’ll say this…i don’t like hip hop, because it’s pretty much throw-a-way music.
that said, i noticed that black women who comment on bp TEND to say they love robin thicke, yet they can’t stand fergie. why? is it because fergie, a ‘white woman who sings black’ and robin is married to a black woman?
i believe that’s the case. a brother marries a white woman, and he’s ‘self hating’ and ‘i can’t stand him’ is what i hear from sisters. robin thicke marries a black woman and ‘i like him because he’s cool, and he’s in to black women’. fergie sings ‘like a black person’ and she’s ‘trying to be black’.
fuggin hilarious.
i call it the ‘robert deniro affect’: to these black women (and i’m not saying ALL or MOST black women), if a white guy, in ANY WAY, ‘validates’ black women, he’s automatically cool…but if a black man happens to be married to a white woman, or a white woman dare ventures into ‘black woman territory’, then THEY are ‘messed up’.
classic case of ‘it’s okay when i do it, not okay when you do it’.

yo song sucks, 50′s song a year ago with Robin, was 10 times better and I prefer Mr. Hudson to Robin Thicke any way. Mr. Hudson has a better voice and sings better.
why is it that when when a white guy with a black white does ‘black music’, he’s hailed as a ‘sexy’ and ‘heroic’ person, but;
when a white woman (or a lighter skinned black woman) does the same, she’s ‘stupid’, ‘no talent’ or ‘trying to be black’.
from what i’ve seen/heard, most sisters seem to like robin thicke because he’s got a black wife. period. when fergie ‘sings black’ she’s called a ‘no talent’.
why does it always have to be a black and white thing ,shouldn’t it just be about making good music.whether the song is good or bad ,i still applaud robin for his talents.
ljizzal, i don’t know why it has to be about ‘black/white’ all the time. alas, it is.
personally, as i said at first, i find him to be as equally talentless as anyone else in that genre of music. if people claim they like that kind of music, i can’t say they’re wrong.
yet, like it or not, black women LOVE him, and it SEEMS its because he has a black wife. yet when a black male singer dates/is married to a white woman, he’s automatically ‘self hating’ and i hear the ‘i cant stand his shyt’.
“CHAMPAiiGNE SPiiLLiiN OUTTA MY WEE WEE” HA HA HA MAD KUTE..ii LOVE iiT!!! ii LiiKE THA BEAT! :D iiTSz DiiFFERENT… BESiiDESz JAY Z’Sz A GENiiUS SO ANYTHiiNG HE DOESz iiSz GONNA BE HAWT! :D
I could give a rat’s azz what color he is or who he’s married to. Robin Thicke is a talented man. So is Jay-Z. Every collaboration Robin Thicke does with a rapper, it’s a hit. Same goes for this song, I like it. But I think if he was married to a white girl, he wouldn’t be so talented. SMH lol.
The song has to grow on me, but I’ll listen because it’s Robin Thicke and I love his music. Who he’s married to has nothing to do with me loving him. I’ve always been a fan of his music. Let’s not get into the B/W issue…nvm it’s a little too late for that
i luv mee sum robin thicke!. that is one sexy white boy lol
cant wait 4 thee album 2 drop..

to smack_u_silly,it’s only a black and white thing whenever people allow it to be one.just becuase he’s white and has a black wife does not mean he’s talentless nor wack.if black women love him and his music, that’s just their preference.it shouldn’t have to reflect on the color of anyone’s skin just becuase of their interest or desires of music or anything else.
I dont feel this like that it seems like its missing something and I dont like that Robin Thicke is talking more than singing but they both are great artists I just need a little more soulful music these days
Okay, let me be the breath of fresh air to say, I LOVE Robin Thicke, and it is sooooo not because he has a black wife, I like him cause he puts me in a John Legend type of mood: mellow, loving and pass the joint. Also, I LOVE Fergie on a solo tip, not with the Black Eyed Peas. I like Fergie because she is soulful and she can actually sing and is hot (no homo), so there you go! Oh! and i don’t like the song.

I mean if you r a jigga fan you would feel his 16 cause the sixteen was piff. I can’t say i feel the whole body of work. It would not be played in the club. I think they needed a 808 non that joint. They should have got Yeezy.

really im i listening to the wrong song because this track is wack as hell . not hot at all i like both artist but this is trash
Its not the best track put out there by Robin Thicke, but u gotta realize that he is trying to bounce back from his last album. With the addition of the chairman himself, u know the track is gonna carry sum weight. But I agree with the nigga who said Will.I.am shoulda did the beat. It aint a bad song tho, but it aint “lost without you”.
Most of the comments on here are from people who aren’t into the music game. This song by no means is a HIT, Good or remotely shows any skill or talent. Just because we like an artist doesn’t mean everything they do is going to be good. I like both artist too but this songs is that of an amateur who is both tone deaf, high, Intoxicated and off. What where you guys thinking with this song? You need fresh new ideas by others if this is the best you can do. Maybe, you guys can get some of the people off myspace or blackplanet in different states and give them a chance. Trust me they are much better!! And for anyone who’s wondering, yeah I’m in the Lab all the time! Much Love and Keep hope alive Jay-Z & Robin!!
I love Robin Thicke…can’t wait to hear whats next to come out however collaborating with Jay-z is not a good mix….I can see maybe the dream, ne-yo, amerie, alica keys, mary j. blige or something like that. Not dissin Jay-z….he has his moments for me lol however I think both are talented artist’s and one would think with all that talent they could come up with a better collaboration than this…..sorry no i-pod luv!
SUCKS! I THINK THAT ITS BUBBLE GUM BULL SH*T! CHEESY CHEESY AND CORNY AS HELL! AND THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO USUALLY LIKES ALMOST EVERYTHING…
XOXO, VEP!

Outside of the glaring comparisons with Jay-Z’s/Robin Thicke’s track with their earlier work, this isn’t up their with older music, it’s grown folk’s music. I’ve been telling people who make music to step away from the hood for the last few years, and I’ve been doing my best to lead by example, but everyone ain’t gonna always get it.
