Nas: “Drake Is Like Fresh Water!”

By The Urban Daily July 1, 2009 3:50 pm

(Spotted @ RapRadar):

In an interview with The Omaha-World Herald, Nasir says Aubrey is two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen.

So who is that guy for you? Who are you listening to?
Drake and always Scarface.

Why?

Drake is new. (He’s a rapper from Toronto.) He’s here to show anybody who questions him that he’ll get at you. He’s like fresh water right now on dry land. Scarface is the realist rapper. He’s the most musically serious, besides Kanye (West), right now. What Scarface says in his rhymes is real. You can’t get away from (Lil) Wayne right now. So that’s what I’m listening to. I’m waiting on Dr. Dre’s album.

What do YOU think of Nas? Does he still got it? Would Nas, Jay & Drake make for a great song? Speak on it!

  • 7-6-2009 11:41 pm

ALL I KNOW IS THAT HE SOUND LIKE KANYE A LIL TOO MUCH ON BEST I EVER HAD. WHY DO ARTIST GET HYPE FOR SOUNDING LIKE OTHER MC’S. THIS IS MADNESS BUT AS FOR DRAKE HIMSELF GET ALL THE MONEY THEY THROW YOU KID. I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE GAME TO RETURN TO THE UNDERGROUND, LYRICAL, AND GRIMEY STAGE

  • 7-6-2009 2:55 pm

CuteCookie, who gives a fug if he’s from Canada and a child actor?? So all rappers have to be from the USA and be thugged out to have skills. You sound like a crazy person, LOL

Anywho, I just got exposed to Drake…but I’d be lying if I said his looks didn’t peak my interest. The dude is defitinely easy on the eyes.

Props to Drake for bringing light skinned back!!

Drake is garbage and Lil’ Wayne is garbage! Man, we have lowered our standards so much that it’s become ridiculous! These new cats on the scene are sub par. I haven’t listened to the radio for awhile now because I’m so disgusted with the constant revolution of GARBAGE they are tryin to pass off on the general public and FORCE us to like this stuff! I’ve seen better rappers battling on 106 & Park. Truly! And no I”m NOT from New York, I’m from Chicago.

I remember this guy play on Degrassi. And um, this guy I believe is serious. He’s very talented. I can’t say that about a lot of artist out. But, he is hungry and I know that he s about to blast off. I have high hopes for him. I wish him all the best. And he slow jam game. He taken some ni**as on another level. Stay doing Drizzy.

Well I hope The Great Light Hype, lives up to all this. Otherwise he will be sitting next to Canibus and Joe Buden at the bar saying I can out rap all them. I got John Blaze sh%t.

I agree with thickfemmefetale…I think Drake is overhyped but a little refreshing. Truth be told, hiphop is weak right now.

  • 7-2-2009 9:10 am

I’m cosignin with almost everybody except for the people who thinks Weezy is “all that”… I don’t think so.

  • 7-2-2009 9:05 am

    I agree (ikidas)

  • 7-2-2009 7:36 am

I have to disagree with Nas. He is nowhere near a great MC. He says s**t that is not classic. He copies styles. Sounds like Wayne’s style sometimes and it’s not like he’s saying anything new. I don’t think he should have all of this hype. Calling women ho’s and acting like he’s street. He’s from f**king Canada! Was on Degrassi since a youngster. He’s a copycat if you ask me. Can’t cosign. Sorry Nas!

come on..yall need to stop tryin 2 leave out marshall mathers bcuz he’s whyte! he’s in tha top 5 period!

  • 7-2-2009 2:26 am

    YEAHHHHHHHH
    OMAHA :)

  • 7-2-2009 12:18 am

you can pick any rapper in history and tell me one rapper who has a better cd collection then NAS. NOBODY!! if they made a song together it would be classic cuz u got 2 of the best MC’s ever and drake who doest even have to rap, the dude can sing the hook and it would still be fire but dude can spit too he has mad talent!!

  • 7-1-2009 11:36 pm

Well of the top Nas might go down as the best ever. Drake right now is average. they hyped dude like he was the next kanye or ludacris.

  • 7-1-2009 11:24 pm

ok not a drake fan… but i can agree he has some slick rhymes. but what new rapper isnt good when they first come out… it all depends on where they are at after the first 1-2 albums. If he keeps makin hits… then hes a beast. Does any one find it kinda weird that drake comes out of no where and all of a sudden on stage with the biggest rappers in the industry ? on top of that why does drakes lyrics sound like lil waynes old style back in 500 degrees and the carter I. as far as nas , jay-z and drake all on one track… bad idea.. nas and jay-z have a different kind of style and all drake can do is rhyme about the same stuff lil wayne has always been rappin about. i dont think their styles would mesh very well

  • 7-1-2009 10:22 pm

I AGREE WITH NAS AND FOR NAS TO GVE THE BOA DRAKE PROPS…HE’S GOING TO BE LARGE….SCARFACE IS ONE OF THE REALIST RAPPERS EVER…I MISS TUPAC AND BIGGIE…I KNOW THAT BIGGIE WOULD BE HAVING THIS S**T POPPIN WITH SOME NEW S**T…DAMN

  • 7-1-2009 10:21 pm

Hell naw…nas is one of da best….wayne is trash….jay is good….drake is jus another face….scarface is a legend….bone is the best very top 5 material

  • 7-1-2009 8:03 pm

Nas always been and still is better then Jay. Drake is ok but messin with Lil Wayne who had a ghost writer til after Carter 2. He’s not nice at all.

  • 7-1-2009 7:22 pm

I think that, Nas, Drake, and Jay, would make a good song together, they are the realist rappers besides lil wayne and kanye.

  • 7-1-2009 7:19 pm

Cant co-sign on drake as of yet, he put out a few hot singles but I haven’t heard anything that moves me, but he is the hottest cat as of NOW. He got the other youngins beat by a mile.

  • 7-1-2009 6:56 pm

maybe Nas and Drake, Jay would get outshined like he did in that Big L freestyle session

  • 7-1-2009 6:16 pm

Hell yeah, NAS is still relevant!!! I toured with him…he’s one of the hardest workin rappers out there…he’s just been ahead of the times…I think there collabo would bring about something new and different…especially if I was in with them :)

  • 7-1-2009 5:39 pm

Nas definitely still has it but he needs to stop slackin, its like he doesnt car about making hit records anymore. He definitely has it, look at his resume.

  • 7-1-2009 4:44 pm

After all the hype on Drake I have to say I’m not feeling him… I think the kid has potential and descent lyrical content but the hype was more than was needed. He is an average MC in my opinion… What I do like about him is he still has room and time to grow so perhaps it’s in his cards to erase some of today’s names but not in his near future…

Shocked at NAS for the Scarface up’s… Now you talkin my language Mr. Jones… Jay no longer get’s my ear and it’s sad that his arrogance has done this to him as I was soooo looking forward to buying BP3… Now I gotta find someone to bootleg the album for me… The three of them together is not a winner in my book…
