Dame Gets ‘Dashed’ By Wife Rachel Roy!

By The Urban Daily March 24, 2009 10:46 am

He’s got no money, but he sure does have mo’ problems.

Roc-A-Fella Records and Rocawear co-founder Damon Dash has been slapped with divorce papers by wife Rachel Roy, the Daily News has learned.

The stunning fashion designer piled onto Dash’s already sizable stack of lawsuits when she filed for divorce from her husband of four years this month in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Ed Hayes, a lawyer for Roy, declined comment, and a Dash spokeswoman did not return calls or e-mails.

An electronic record of the case says the divorce is for “nonmonetary relief” and should be resolved by February.

Dash and Roy, who put her own name on a women’s fashion line, got hitched in Mexico in January 2005. They met when Roy was working at Rocawear and have two daughters.

Check out the duo in happier times:

The breakup is the latest legal mess for the has-been hip-hop titan, whose empire – which he once pegged at “about $50 million” in a New York magazine profile – has crumbled under massive debt, bad business deals and one suit after another.

Dash, who in 2005 sold his stake in Rocawear to Jay-Z for $20 million, owes $2 million in state taxes, and a bank has started foreclosure proceedings on his two Tribeca condos.

A Manhattan judge even ordered the city to seize his luxury Chevrolet Tahoe SUV last year when he couldn’t make the $714.99 monthly payment. He’s also being sued by law firms and landlords for not paying his bills.

The fall has been a spectacular one for Dash, who sipped Champagne on a yacht in Jay-Z’s video for “Big Pimpin’” – then emptied his bottle of bubbly onto bikini-clad beauties in a hot tub.

He’s broke, he’s got nothing left,” a source said.

Dash debuted last year as a theater producer with the “Hip-Hop Monologues,” an Off-Broadway account of the life of his latest protégé, rapper Jim Jones.

The production is set to resume performances tonight at 37 Arts in Manhattan.

While he may have been short on cash, Dash wasn’t short on confidence when he hyped the show in New York magazine and vowed to make a splashy return to the music business.

And when I come back, I’m gonna change the economy as well,” he said.

I agree with all of Sunshyne’s points. Clearly,it would be logical for one to conclude Ms. Roy had other motives. I hope these turmoil of events thatg are continuously occurring to Mr. Dash strengthen him and his relationship with God.

IF money were not fore most in my mind, I’d have left him a long time ago. She’s financially stable in her own right, nice looking, and could have kicked him when she felt, yet she STAYED. The only difference between now and before is his finances. So-She left because he was financially unable to provide her with what she wanted. He probably lavished her with gifts, and when he wasn’t doing so anymore, she figured it was a good time to get gone. What other change has there been, except that he’s struggling financially and has no “bling” to lavish on her? Point blank, the money was the deciding factor. Whether or not the other problems played a part, it still remains that she might have taken the abuse and chaos longer had he not run into financial difficulties.

Well come on these men already know that most of the women they hook up with after making it in the industry wouldn’t look twice at their dusty a*s if they didn’t have money and name status! When he was on top of the world he gave her his a&*s to kiss on the regular, because he had it like that, not he doesn’t and she’s gone. Yeah the lack of finance might have something to do with it along with his non stop arrogance, women beating pattern, and constant cheating!

First, as I don’t follow hip-hop avidly, I know nothing about that, but that doesn’t change my opinion. If that were the reason, why didn’t she leave him then? She waited til the money dried up. If I were going to get angry about someone’s actions, I’d do so AT THAT MOMENT, not wait until they are unable to do any positive for me and then leave. She waited til the money was gone, then she vanished. That makes her there for the money, he’s been the way he is [not that i condone it] most of their marriage, yet she was still there, and she chooses THIS MOMENT to file for divorce, that makes her out for money, in my book.

in case u didnt know, dame has charges of allegedly raping a female while married to her, so her filing for divorce is smart! being cheated on and wanting to leave does not classify u as a golddigger!!! these men think just because their name gets nationwide recognition, they can do whatever they want and live at this level higher than us ordinary ppl do.

Lol, obviously she was there for the money. Doesn’t surprise me a bit.
