Half of the rappers on this list arent important enough to be considered overrated like young joc, shawty lo, and souljia boy. They are just wac not overrated. I can’t say that the subject of the hip hop culture is overrated because the fact of the matter is it is losing its foundations man. The fact is that rap came from the word rhapsody which means to tell a story. I’m sorry but in the music industry today there are only a few heavy weights in most genres. As for as the Rap game, no one really has lyrics anymore, meaning there are only a few lyrics and true mc’s out there. I mean you don’t really have rappers even giving live performances any more. That’s the whole point of being an MC is to rock the mic. So, when was the last time you bought a rap cd in which you got 10 out 15 as good records lyrically and melodically? D. aren’t regarded as artists like that either but more as marketers. J. D. is behind a lot of people who after he was no longer behind them, they fell off. J. D. is more of a talent developer. Master P did his thing for the time when what he was doing was popular. Even then, no one was saying his lyrical content was amazing so him being on the list is more or less just hating that he was able to be one of those people to get up over $250 million. If you really want to talk over rated, T. I. would’ve been on this list if it hadn’t been for his last album. Why do I say this? At the time he started calling himself “KING”, who was he better than and who had he done more for the south then. At the time he started saying it, he was barely in the top 5 of his own city. I wouldn’t buy Lil Wayne’s or Jay Z’s album. With that said, Lil Wayne (swagger) and Jay Z (freestyle talent is tight, I have to admit) are the most “sweatin’ themselves” artist ever, but they kept saying they’re the Sh#! on every song and people eventually started beliving them. To their credit, they can freestyle for days.

Master P (Props to beats By the Pound. An album every week?) or 50 Cent (Jada ate him up) may not be lyricists by any means, but their “hustle-game”, grimy or not, is well respected by me. That should make up for something. The Panthers and Titans were garbage at passing, but won a lot of games in the reg. season, by using what they had.

Dupri is a hall of famer as a PRODUCER (Dre is 40pts/gm…Dupri is triple-double 20-10-10/gm). Kanye “I deserved to win that award too” West is a “Hall of Famer” in the making. As a producer he put down some thorough hits (check his resume) and as an artist, I’d rather listen to him than Jay Z. He rides the rhythm better than Jay Z (and darn near the majority of artists presently out) and has waaaaay more topics that he gets on. If I’m wrong, prove it.

Fabolous HAS the corniest name and I pray to God, no one is named “Fabolous” in prison, but dude is lyrically gifted. He and Kanye are the tightest in this group. They is way closer to the top than to the bottom.

What about Mike “write 1/2 a verse then repeat it” Jones, or Fat Joe?

That’s why I say it should have been some people doing this list who was in they middle to late teens like in the mid 80′s and up cause they could have had a more broader scope of who’s whack and who’s not. Pac is not overated look how many people capitalized off his likeness, style, look, flow, and not only that he was way ahead off his peers at the time. Yes better than Big, Jay, and Nas at that time.
