Ginuwine Talks About Reuniting W/ Timbaland & Missy

In his thirteen years in music, Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, aka Ginuwine has seen and heard quite a bit, from the passing of his own parents and dear friend Aaliyah to the birth of his own daughters.   His new CD, A Man’s Thoughts is a soulful encapsulation of his life experiences and more. In this Urban Daily exclusive interview he discusses the creation of this project, reuniting with Timbaland and Missy and how he’s grown since the “Pony” days.

    That was the dream team right there, until Aaliayh tragically passed. Even though the music was decent, it wasn’t the same afterwards. They worked on each other records, and made some classics. I’d like to see that happen. The joint he got out right now, is a banger! It got a little “Reasons” feel to it.

    I always thought that the “SexyBack” Timberlake project should’ve gone to Ginuwine. The falsetto, the beats, the Timbaland partnership, the dancing…would’ve been a great vehicle for him and Timberlake sounded like him anyway; at that register they all sound alike. Gotta love Devante Swing for putting all those people in the same place at the same time…they had the industry on lock in the mid/late 90s!
