I hate autotune… it make them niggas sound like chipmunks. I remember when I was younger and we would put a cassette tape in the player and while it played, we would slightly hold down the fastforward button – thats exactly what these autotune fools sound like..its effing annoying.

I hope these Autotune creators are loving the attention now, because when it starts to decline, its gonna hit rock bottom harder than it started. Autotune? Lisen long before autotune there were vocorder/oral exciter and various ways of peocessing voice. So even if autotune is not used, J-Z Beyonce and everyone else have to eq/process their voice..

As for autotone? Nothing is wrong with running voice through a phase, just like they would compress Beyonce/J-Z and everyone else voice to make it sound better.

So u-all need to chill and realise that J-Z dropping his death to autotone was only him voicing his opinion, plus because the new gineration music makers who are not even rappers, but young dudes who is tec savvy and using autatone to do things to make money and he was not the one to originate the idea. So if he wanted to use autatone it would hurt his eago because he is J-Z and his eago got in the way.

AUTOTONE will aslwas he around as long as music is in the mix. Again, before the autotone it was vocorder. Yes, google it. So long begore autotone voice processing was always being used. Oral exciter/voice phase/etc. So autotone aint nothing new. Its just an old idea dressed in a new form.

As a matter a fact, autatone is in some way the vocorder updated to be used for other important tech business outside of music untill someone found out that it is more advance and can be used to do more than the vocorder would do with voice/sound. But all are well off. Jay only made a song and gave his opinion. Whether you take his advice or not is up to you. I’m pretty sure Team Roc isn’t gonna kick in the door to your studio and run in guns blazing if you decide you want to continue using Auto tune. hell even Jay-z himself used Auto tune on “The Streets is Watching Soundtrack” [The song: Bring Back your Love]. But that was back in ’98 and it was just him being creative and paying awemage to Roger Troutman/ZAPP. His point in all this was that Auto Tune has become to common place. As is everything in Hip Hop nowadays. It’s like if one person makes up a dance and creates a song for it then all of a sudden that’s what EVERYONE is going to do because it worked for that one person. If one person uses Auto Tune and becomes successful at it then all of a sudden that’s what EVERYONE is going to do because it worked for that one person. All he was trying to get across is that people should stop following trends and start setting them again. Make precedents. If everyone was doing the same follow the leader stuff back when Tupac and Big was out or hell I’ll even go a little further back and throw Snoop and Slick Rick into the mix then we wouldn’t have a Jay or a Kanye West or a Ludacris or a NaS or a Drake or a Lil Wayne and so on and so forth. Creativity breeds more creativity. If everyone just started doing their own thing again and it wasn’t “cool” to follow trends anymore then a lot of the artists today would be unemployed. OK I just read most of what magikk said and I have to agree. Everyone is more on trying to get a quick buck then make a good record. Too many hustlers and not enough artist for me. We need a balance. Nothing wrong with getting money, but if one person makes money by doing something everyone just jumps right in and does the exact same sh–. Even the female R&B chicks R starting to look alike same skin tone and all. I miss artist like Lauren Hill, ones who did completely their own thing. We need more leaders, we have to many followers in music today…
