U gotta be kidding me….luv krs-one but disagree with rappers from ny being afraid of 50 and rap from ny being soft…yea maybe that jay-z, mims s**t but look at off of the killa emcees that come from ny……like da article stated: buckshot who is apart and da leader of the Boot Camp Clik along with Heltah Skeltah (Rock and Ruck aka Sean Price), O.G.C. (Originoo Gunn Clappahz which is Starang Wondah, Top Dog & Louieville Sluggah) and Smif N Wesson (Tek and Steele), Nas, Verbal Threat, The L.O.X, Joe Budden (born in Harlem NY) and has formed a deadly group: Slaughterhouse along with Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5’9″, Bully, Tony Bones, Rakim is still doing his thing, Gang Starr, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Blu, Wu Tang still go hard, Jedi Mind Tricks, MF Doom, Immortal Technique, MED aka Medaphor…..I could go on and on but most of u people don’t even know who most of these artists are and that’s because u don’t know where to find real rap music and only think if u have a lot of money, very popular, or on tv and radio u must be good man please…..rap and da hip hop culture is alive and kicking u jus have to know where 2 find it and ny rap is far from soft….it might be harder than ever

Rappers in general are soft, and soft not just in a masculinity point of view but the lack of lyrics, substance, optomism, maintaining of hip-hop culture, respect of elders etc. Rap became what it is today because the ones that stood up to system and to power that be was killed,TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR. He was a one man army trying to fight the likes of racist exec like Iovine, who are part of the ILLUMINATI. Remember Pac’s album that year was expressing the KILLUMINATI. He knew what was going on and whats going happend. They were scaed of PAC because PAC moved masses of men and women across gender and culture. They knew that taking him out means the substance are going away, and will force fed us with DUMB DOWN rap, which results in complasant generations.

My Golden Days were the 80′s and mid 90′s. I could get enough Hip Hop. But after that it got more and more generic and less creative. Now I know it must evolve or die,BUT what’s going on right now sucks. Too much violence and negativity. And when you try to point that out you can FORGET it! Look at how 50 jumped on Master P when he said he was finished wit negeative lyrics. Then you have certain MC’s that are pure ROYALTY that cosign these New Jacks because they don’t want to “rock the boat”. Personally I’m shocked at some of these vets.

New York MCs are still doing them. They ain’t worried about 50 Cent. What threat is he to them? He had his time to shine. If you think about it, Jin Jones still is very popular despite his record sales not being impressive but he is getting the most buzz in the New York rap scene right now. Of course, Jay is stil the king of NY and he’s the one that the other NY rappers need to try to chop down but it still hasn’t happened.

to the dude below me its not about chopping down some body else to get your shine. its about creating your own to get your shine. that’s the problem with hip hop now. every body is jumping on the band wagon and doing “what is in” in the industry. i’m tired of this industry cookie cutter music with no originality and creativity. that’s what KRS-ONE was talking about,do you not do like others in other words stop “biting”. you would think that the slumping record sales would give an incline to the music industry to produce real hip hop but woow is the sleeping giant.

KRSONE IS A FOOL AND HE SELLS OUT FOR 50 CENT? WTF. KRS SELLS OUT FOR SPRITE AND HIS SON WAS RECENTLY KILLED IN ATLANTA TO VIOLENCE AND HE’S SUPPORTING STREET RAP? COME ON. WTF. ALL 50 TALKS ABOUT IS BANG, BANG SHOOT’EM UP AND THAT SAME BLACK ON BLACK VIOLENCE MURDERED KRS’S SON. I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW A NIGGA CAN GO FROM BEING POSITIVE AND A REVOLUTIONARY TO SELLING HIS SOUL TO GET BACK IN THE LIMELIGHT. I MEAN EVERY STARS FADES AWAY AND NEW STARS LOOK AT THE ROLLING STONES THEY USED TO BE LOVED BUT THEIR FAME FELL. YOU CAN STILL GOT LOVE KRS BUT YOU’RE NOT GOING TO BE NUMBER ONE ANYMORE. 50 IS FINDING OUT THAT HIS FAME IS FADING AND BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME DON’T DO JUST ANYTHING ESPECIALLY THINGS AGAINST YOUR PRINCIPLES THE WAY FLAVA FLAV DID. IT’S JUST EMBARRASSING TO WATCH SUCH A LOOKED UP TO GREAT MIND LOSE HIS MIND BECAUSE HIS EGO IS SO GREAT HE CAN’T LET GO HIS PAST GREATNESS. SHAME.

NY tried to make a statement with the collab “NY: On my sh!t”, and it was a who’s who of NY, but key people were notably missing- busy doing tracks with Down South folks so they can sell. lol. NYkers are just wack today, and the other problem is the listeners are some dumb, kids today, who are told who’s hot by white people in suits from corporate america. They don’t care if their favorite rapper can’t spit a freestyle or flow over ANY beat given, at any given time. NOPE. These kids today don’t care about anything but the images sold to them by marketing and promotion. Whoever looks intimidating and ignorant, that’s who’s album you buy, in hopes of intimidating anyone hearing you blasting the intimidating guy’s music. lol It’s like a way of trying to piggy back off of the hardcore imagine they just purchased from the wack rapper. lol KRS is just very familiar with the way all NY rappers have talked, throughout the years. Everyone says they’re the best and go at each other. He is just saying that’s par for the course, in rap, is all. He’s not on 50s sack. Anyone saying he is, is that dumb kid I referred to. Rap was always about who’s the best in which geographical region, whether it was the DJ first, then the Rapper and even then the dance crews! Anyone saying KRS is on 50′s sack for just stating what the core of what rap is, is lost to gimmicks and promotion. You need to stick with Drake as your choice for the greatest rapper ever. lol
