Music legend Quincy Jones is trading in tour stops for a campaign trail, as he celebrates his 76th birthday today.

The famed composer, artist, and activist has launched a petition campaign to create an Ambassadorship or Secretary position strictly for arts and culture – perhaps even a cabinet level post.

And though Jones has been promoting the idea for the past ten years, he hopes to gain a lot of momentum this year with the invigorated American spirit and President Obama.

When chatting with reporters recently about the Playboy Jazz Festival and the history of jazz music, Jones explained why some sort of Ministry of the Arts is a necessity.
