Tavis Smiley Urges Fans To Support Prince!

Tavis Smiley sent a thank you letter to folks who attended the 10th anniversary celebrations of his State of the Black Union, as well as the Gospel Brunch and Prince concert in Los Angeles held to benefit the Tavis Smiley Foundation.

While informing supporters that the recent fund-raising efforts have brought in almost $225,000 to fund the development of young leaders, Smiley made a point to single out Prince for donating proceeds from his Feb. 28 show at The Conga Room to the cause.

    i agree with Stan_Vinyl… I received the letter in my e-mail and plan on purchasing Prince’s CD just for this reason (and because he’s PRINCE… LOL)… not many black entertainers support black non-profit organizations and those that do have to brag and boast about what they do.

    I was in a Target at 10:30am on the CD release date, after being up til 5am.

    If you like Prince’s old school style, the MPLSound CD is worth the $12 by itself.

    The LotusFlow3r CD will probably get more love from white audiences, but it will grow on you if you can appreciate Prince’s more diverse sides, and if Bria Valente’s CD does not get a lot of mainstream airplay, it’s due to industry hating, period.
