The-Dream and Tricky Stewart received top awards at the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards this past Friday. The songwriting/production duo were awarded for their work on five songs including “I Luv Your Girl” by The-Dream, “Just Fine” by Mary J. Blige, and “Touch My Body” by Mariah Carey.

The team also shared the award for songwriter of the year with fellow songwriting/production duo Stargate (consisting of Tor Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen), who were honored for production work on Ne-Yo’s “Miss Independent,” Jennifer Hudson’s “Spotlight,” and Rihanna’s “Take a Bow.”

Tricky Stewart’s career has seen four Grammy nominations and one win for Blige’s eighth studio album, Growing Pains. Teaming up with The-Dream, the two have earned critical and commercial success first with 2007′s “Umbrella,” and other hit songs such as Beyonce’s recent “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

Other winners of the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards included Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” and Alicia Keys’ “Like You’ll Never See Me Again.” The awards show also paid tribute to Smokey Robinson.
