First off, No.ID and Kanye killed this instrumental and I’m glad that Jay-Z still feels comfortable doing some hard body hip-hop. But the irony of this whole thing is that Hot 97 went right back to playing Autotune records in the next minute. I was already mad that Mary J. Blige took it there with the Autotune but will this finally put an end to it all? I sincerely doubt it.
Jay is a great MC and one of the most influential voices in the game (check the gallery and respect his conglomerate) but this song isn’t going to kill the Autotune fad by itself, as much as I’d like it to. Just like the Das Efx “riggety, riggety” clones back in the day it will take too many folks doing it badly before it plays itself out, not KRS-One telling folks to “seckle.”

But if this indeed kills the Autotune fad will it mean that Jay-Z has turned around and “ethered” Ron Browz? (For you slowpokes Ron Browz produced Nas’ Jay-Z diss, “Ether” and uses Autotune on his hit “Pop Champagne.”)
