I would expect this song to be song by a kid, not a grown, married woman. I heard Maxwell give an interview yesterday on 97.9 The Box, Nnete’ (radio personality)asked him why was he gone for 8 years and what was wrong.

I have the utmost respect for Maxwell’s response. He said,”why do people have to assume that something is wrong when a person takes time off to just live life. I feel there is something wrong when people cannot go away and are dropping a cd every year. It is like they need acceptance and validation from people. I like to challenge my listeners and not try to give them what I think they want.”

In my opinion MJB is making a statement. She’s not going no where as long as she can still blow. Yes MJB is much older, but she still sounds better. I still question those who says Keyshia has a good voice. Someone on here said that most of the young people love Keyshia because they never listen to the older artist. I have to agree with Like. I listen to all the current and new artists. Mary has been in the business, for over two decades. She’s been in it so long, Puffy was at Uptown records. If you only listen to the present, you don’t know the past. The present artists listen to the past artists as well. I love Ciara, but she’s no Aaliayh. If she was still alive, there’s no doubt Aaliayh would indeed still have that staying power. People you hear today, wished they had half her sales. Listen to everything before you make comparisons.

I am almost 40 and think the snippet is corny. Now she is trying to be like Keyshia Cole and I will remind everyone when MJB came out she sounded like someone skinning a cat. First of all I am an old school I remember Mary J and she really cannot sing at all…Chaka Khan told Bobbito that Mary is a wonderful entertainer but she sings off key….Keyshia is a real singer and an entertainer. So Mary might feel threatened, Mary is definately not a singer but she is entertaining…But I like Keyshia’s flava. To each its own…but Mary can’t sing on tune for her life…..

All things come to an end eventually….whether we like it or not…Mary should just provide the example…she took other people’s place…like Stephanie Mills…Jody Watley…and even the great Patti Labelle is no longer in the spotlight…just enjoy the time you had on top Mary…you had one of the better runs in the industry…

Mary ain’t neva been able to sing but she has good songs with good lyrical content. It’s easy to identify with Mary and the same can be said about Keyshia. One main difference is Keyshia’s vocals are getting better with each album. You can tell she’s getting some vocal coaching.
