As KRS-One said back in 1988 on “My Philosphy” a lot of rappers have colorful names. So in the first installment of “What’s In A Name” I asked Brooklyn MC Skyzoo (who’s CD The Salvation is out on Duck Down Records now) how he came up with his unique handle.
“My middle name is Skyler and it’s the name everyone in my family calls me. Also, when I was born in ’82 there was a disco group out named Skyy. They were a big group from Brooklyn and they had a song called “Skyyzoo” and my parents used to play it and sing it to me so when I started rhyming I just ran with what was there. I knew nobody else would have it and that’s what I was getting called already. ”
