Once upon a time you only saw images of Jesus hanging from the bejeweled neck of your favorite rapper, but over the years many artists have begun using The Messiah as inspiration in their artwork. Below is a gallery of some Christ-influenced images in hip-hop.

    I have to agree with Burgstyle to a point, these albums were not inspired by a “Holi” spirit but more like a spirit from the depths of who knows where.

    If you are going to use the image have some content to support the imagery!

    Hip hop or not, NO ONE should be wearing CROSSES and CRUCIFIXION that depict Jesus DYING…..

    The image of JESUS on a CROSS is so sickening and we have the nerve to condemn HIP HOP when I see EVERYONE Doing this.

    Goto a person’s house who “CLAIMS” to be religious and they have all these CRUCIFIX cosses and pictures of JESUS being CRUCIFIED…etc….when you do this you CELEBREAT his DEATH and what was DONE to him….

    to truly show your love and appreciation for Jesus you wil LIVE YOUR LIFE according to his commandment and that is “LOVE”….you will live the way he lived, think the way he thought, give the way he gave…
    Its not so much as blasphemy like “DENVER” said its more of a SICKENING GESTER of a way to depict Jesus…

    It is not at all respectful to Jesus to celebrate the way that he died….

    Its the same as if you had a relative that died via a GUNSHOT WOUND to the head, and you go and get jewelry made in the image of your relative getting his BRAINS BLOWN OUT…..for example, if someone had a shotgun and BLEW OUT the brains of your SON or daughter or relative, you then go get a piece of jewelry designed in the SAME FASHION witha SHOTGUN to the HEAD of your dead relative……this is the same as the CRUCIFICTION crosses that we wear..

    STOP WEARING THOSE JEWELRY PIECES, stop hangin up PICTURES of jesus HANGING FROM A CROSS in your homes, STOP CELEBRATING “HOW HE DIED” instead MOURN his death and remember how he LIVED…

    Well I do not think that it is right to capitalize off of Jesus on a rap album full of profanity. But I do not see anything wrong with a believer wearing a crusifix. As a Christian we do celebrate the death of our saviour because he gave his life so that we might be forgiven and have a right to speak to His father ourselves. Sooooo nothing wrong with a have a crusifix in your house if you know the meaning behind it.

    What’s the big deal here? Just because someone is depicting themselves being crucified has nothing to do with Christ or any disrepect to Christ. The cross was used to kill many more people than just Christ.

    Us Christians need to stop trying to corner the market on thing that really don’t have anything to do with our religion. The cross has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity. Absolutly nothing! The cross (itself) is merely the device used to kill Christ so that we could return. If it had been a tree, would we have a picture of a tree in our houses? Or what is he had been poisoned? Would we be a box of Rid-x hanging from our chains?

    so a bunch of entertainers use the cross to symbolize the martyred state of the africans in america. and instead of realizing that the traditional pictures drawn before hip hop are more than invalid (historically), all the christians haul stones. no mention here of the molestation of millions of children, under the watchfull eye of the pope himself. no understanding of the oppression witnessed and doc**ented in the book you claim to live by. u embrace the death of your supposed savior, like the slave who believes that his country has saved him after the abolition, ignorantly turning a blind eye to the millions that have been killed b4 him. looking through these comments, i can only shake my head in disbelief. as u condemn ur own culture, in order to justify the evils done to us under the name of the church, u should google the origins of the christian faith and do some serious soul searching.

The difference between those people and Jesus was that Jesus died for us and our sins. He was a substitution for us on that cross. Those other people died for whatever other reasons.
