Sylk-E-Fyne’s debut single “Romeo & Juliet” was one of those cuts that came out back in the ’90s that you heard on the radio all the time.
Built around a sample of Rene & Angela’s “You Don’t Have To Cry,” the sexy hip-hop tune hit the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Rap Singles chart, and went top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 & Hot Hip-Hop & R&B singles chart in 1998. Once the song’s run on the charts was over, Sylk-E Fyne more or less disappeared. She briefly reappeared a couple of years later with a song called “Ya Style” featuring Bizzy Bone and Snoop Dogg, but it failed to make any sort of impact outside of hip-hop circles.
