Wow… Ol’ Girl Cmoore_78 just said Lil’ Mama over Nikki Minaj. I can’t agree wit you on that one sweetheart. Lil’ Mama got that bubble gum rap too. Nikki got more delivery and punch lines. I ain’t sayin she’s hot, but you can’t put Lil’ Mama over her. Sex does sell right now, so therefore you gotta get in where you fit in. I just listened to some of Nicki’s music and I am not impressed. She is pretty but pretty is everywhere. She sounds like a little kid. Her voice is annoying. She sounds nasal a/k/a Lefteye (who was an ARTIST and great writer) with a twist of Trina. How old is Nicki?
She attempts to mimic Lil’ Wayne’s style when he drags some words out in his flow. It doesn’t work for her, he is from the south and we have a natural drawl, so to speak. It really doesn’t work for Weezy but I get it. When she does it, it just seems forced.
This is her debut album…the best debut album by a female rapper to me (I repeat, to ME) was EVE’s. She had a hunger you could hear and a flow that was unmatched. I worked out to EVE’s first cd. She fell off, as most of them do. There is no female MC that has been around like Jay-Z (who is still making albums), has the respect of Tupac or Biggie. If you all can think of one, let me know.
Lil’ Mama can eat Nikki up. The kids 13-21 may enjoy it, don’t think the grown and sexy women will buy it. Can we have a real female rapper who isn’t selling sex. That is so played and porn can do that…get some lyrics talk about something real and meaningful.
Eve’s Love is Blind is still an anthem for domestic violence. Gotta Man, What Y’all Want (including the remix), Heaven Only Knows (she was truthful).
Quit with the bubble gum and step your mind up. How about that…sadly Boss (was mannish) and the others named by DaRealReckless, where are they now? What are they doing? Lil Kim is still considered and “icon.” She is still very visible. She is very plastic and fake now. It would be nice to have a real, female (none lesbian), pretty and lady-like rapper. Hip-hop is not just sex, even if the original meaning is “booty shaking.”
