Who’s Better?: Method Man Vs. Joe Budden
Lyrically, Joe Budden thinks that he’s Method Man’s superior and the notion has taken on new heights as the New Jersey rapper conducted an interview this morning.
“I will cut that dudes head off his shoulders,” Budden said on the Ed Lover Morning Show. Budden wasn’t talking physically, but his verbage spoke volumes about how he feels he ranks above his Wu Tank counterpart.
“Method Man’s not going to be able to survive [a lyrical battle],” Budden continued. “Its gonna be hard for him.”
Budden told Ed Lover and Free of Power 105.1 in New York that he had respect for Meth and didn’t want to see anything turn violent.
“That is not knock against Method Man, Wu Tang, Redman – since he wanted to jump in too. I mean, I can’t be from Jersey and not love Redman,” Budden said.
The whole matter started after Vibe.com listed their Top 50 rappers in a tourney-style event to determine the best artist. Budden questioned the credibility of the list and the inclusion of several acts.
Method Man responded quickly by calling into the radio station.
“My folks advised me to take the high road. I’m a smart n***a so I know off top this dude is trying to bait me,” Meth said. “He been on medication since he was in junior high school. The n***a is certified crazy.”
“Every week he picks somebody to mess with and I ain’t really heard nobody respond to this dude except other dudes that’s on that same level as him.”
Meth did admit that Joe Budden is a worthy battle rapper, but said he would not be backing down.
“As far as battle rapping, by all means, Joe Budden gets it in. He’s a battle rapper. I ain’t never been known for battle rapping,” Meth said. “But I tell you this, I meet any challenge from any challenger.”
“On a lighter, note son can’t mess with me.” Meth said. “Stop being a cry baby.”
Method Man offered two options.

Ok it’s like this, Joey is a very humble character, they finally gave Method recognition on Notarized Top Emcees, he was 21 on a list of 25, but let’s be all real here, Joey is a beast, Method is a beast when he wants to be, they both r hilarious, to be quite honest when Joey first started out, he sounded a lot like Method Man, so u can tell he looked up to the nigga, but Joey has surpassed Method Man lyrically, Method still can rock some s**t, but Joey delivers on damn near everything he spits, he inspires emcees like me, to wanna surpass him, so I can feel like I’d be underrated on the list as well, but about this f****t ass list, firstly it’s Vibe… I ain’t read a Vibe magazine since Ashanti was on the front… they don’t know s**t about hip hop, they don’t know s**t about rap, but it’s just sad to see the way they xploit niggaz like this, Pac vs. Plies kiss my mutha f**kin ass, Pac would win just off of bein who he is… come on now, and if I had to narrow it down to the final four it’d be Pac, DMX, Joey, and Canibus that’d be my final four, but obvioussly these niggas don’t know s**t about real music they put Bow Wow 31… FORREAL, mr. I need Jermaine Dupri to write my songs Bow Wow??? kiss ass, but yea I agree wit Joey that list is whack as s**t, yo, that’s y real emcees need to step up and speak out, get this bubblegum s**t off the radio, no more Stinky Leggs, no more, Crank Dats or Soulja Boy Failure… I mean Tell Em, it’s time for real music to surface and rise again, real talk… DEUCES

I myself liseten to the Wu-Tang Clan and I must say if anyone is bold enough to step to Meth then it´s on. This is the most lyrical brother I have ever heard in my life. You must be on drugs to step to him. I mean Joe got skillz, but METH! Dude what was you thinking. Redman would cut you down. Even on one of his off days. Yo son, you have your style so rep it, but Meth is in a total different league. Dude will chew you up spit you out and digest you before you even think of saying anything, you´d better think twice.

How the hell is EM on here as #1 and the rest of them clowns, there should be no one on this list in the top 25 that came out after 99 except for black thought, Joe Budden is wack compared to the legends
I’m going to be honest, both emcees are dope, but head to head on a more lyrical battle i’ll have to go with joe dont get me wrong sometimes meth can bring it, but in all honesty Joe Budden is the better lyricist, his mood music catalog is by far one of the best if not the best mixtape series out
