Chuck D while not the greatest rapper to ever touch the Mic (albeit one of the most influential of all time) has an opinion that is almost second to none. So I respect his opinion even if I dont agree with the direction it came from. Alienating the new generation of rap fans is not gonna help your cause. Unfortunately the same thing happened in the 90’s when Gangsta rap took over hip hop. we were called lame and not Hip Hop…so I can see the new generation’s need to defend new artists…what kills me though Is Gucci mane and lil wayne are from the last generation of rap fans. So I would feel they would understand more than everyone…it blows my mind, yet Wu said it best: Cash rules everything around me, including artistic integrity.
