It’s Official. Drake Finally Signs with Lil Wayne’s Young Money
MTV is reporting that the rap wunderkind Drake finally decided on a recording home.
Here’s what they reported:
Well, the wait is over: After weeks of speculation, Drake has chosen to go with the home team and sign with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Records, according to a source close to the situation. The deal breaks down as a joint venture between Young Money and Cash Money, with Universal Republic distributing. Drake’s management was adamant that he should be viewed as an independent artist, although Universal will distribute the project.
“Today is a definitely a comfortable day for me, having my team now that’s been in place for a couple of years. It’s just a great day,” Drake said. “It’s something new, but it feels familiar.”

I don’t understand you so-called hip hop fans.Drake’s flow is real. Naw, he aint no gangsta, so what? Half of these fakers out here aint. I bet the one’s of ya’ll who hate him, probably are “rap” fans. There is a difference between rap and hip hop, ask any hip hop fan. As for the him signing with Young Money, that was a smart move by Wayne. Drake hot right now, and he is going to capitalize on that for as long as he can. Aint nothing wrong with that. If you listen to GUCCI MANE, SOULJA BOI or any other southern artist you can’t hate on him, because that is low quality music at its finest. I’m not saying Drake is the best rapper, but he is certainly not the worst.
Can someone tell how this guy is suppose to be the next best thing. His flow soft, really what has this dude done to get so much coverage. All he has done is make another radio friendly R&B (rappin bulls**t) song. I will not care until dude makes a song I bump in my car w/my nikka’s. So Drake go back to lab and make a song worthy of all this buzz, remember Canibus was the next big thing a while back.

I agree that even though he signed with young money he should be promoted as if he is independant. The problem is I doubt it goes down like that. Drake will probably holla “young money” in all his songs. If not, lil wayne will just do like diddy does on his artist songs and yell “young money” on hs albums. I’d like the real story behind, Aubrey drake Graham. Was he secretly being pushed by the label like 50 cent said? If drake was really getting all the publicity and buzz without a record deal then why not just get distribution deal with universal? What do he need young money for? He would make a hella lot more money with a distribution deal alone. It dont make since to sign with a record label(young money) and make less when you can make more by yourself(sign with universal for distribution and cut out the middle man). I think 50 might have been right.
